Looking for the best lens for my new Panasonic S5 iix. Mostly shooting video, some stills. Budget is around $1500. What's the top all-around lens you'd recommend?

Unfortunately, I had issues with the Panasonic 20-60mm kit lens. For video, consider the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8. It's around $1300 and optically superior for professional work, in my experience.

The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art is sharp. Consider its MTF charts; corner sharpness is key for video. Budget for a lens calibration too – it ensures optimal performance, especially with autofocus systems.

Forget chasing perfection at that price. The Panasonic 20-60mm kit lens is surprisingly good for video and stills. You can find it used for around $500. Spend the rest on good audio; audio quality matters way more than a slightly sharper lens. Trust me, viewers are more forgiving of soft focus than bad sound.

For safe video, especially moving shots, prioritize OIS! The Panasonic 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 offers decent stabilization. Check its compliance with ANSI Z244.1 for lens mounting security – crucial at speed!

Sigma's gaining ground! Research their 24-70mm; many pros are switching. See if it fits your $1500 budget.

Hey! Instead of buying a single expensive lens, ever thought about vintage lenses with adapters? You can get amazing character for video. I've found some killer deals – think $200 for a decent old prime. Adapting is easy, loads of tutorials online. Might be worth a look if you enjoy tinkering, like tuning a carb!
