Tbh, dont expect a massive price cut on the Leica Q3 43 this soon. Leica is notoriously strict with their MSRP, especially on newer APO glass. If you are weighing your options, here is the technical breakdown. The Leica Q3 43 features that 43mm f2 APO-Summicron lens which is a masterpiece of optical engineering. It has basically zero distortion and incredible micro-contrast compared to the standard Leica Q3. The original Q3 uses the 28mm f1.7 Summilux, which is great for street photography but the 43mm is way more versatile for portraits and has better edge-to-edge sharpness. Pros for the 43:

  • APO lens quality is unmatched
  • More natural focal length for many
  • 60MP BSI CMOS sensor handles the crop modes better Cons:
  • f2 vs f1.7 (tho the APO makes up for it in clarity)
  • Zero chance of a real discount this year If you really want a deal, the base Leica Q3 might get some minor gift card bundles, but for the 43, you are basically paying for that specialized optics. Id just pull the trigger now if you can find stock, waiting for Cyber Monday on a new Leica usually leads to disappointment.

Honestly, StrongStella is spot on about the pre-owned market. Leica gear is built like a tank so you really dont have to worry much about longevity. Just caught this thread and wanted to add that you should focus on the essentials once you get the body. I always tell people to just go with Billingham for a bag, you basically cant go wrong with anything they make. Their stuff is super reliable and lasts a lifetime. Also, for your memory, just get any high-end cards from SanDisk. Reliability is everything when you're out shooting and you really dont want your gear failing on you in the middle of a trip... good luck with the search tho!
