Just picked up an M11 and want to keep it protected without losing that tactile feel. I’m looking for a premium leather case that specifically allows for easy battery and SD card access. Does anyone have experience with brands like Arte di Mano or Oberwerth? Which half case offers the best grip and craftsmanship for the price?
In my experience, safety is everything, but unfortunately, i had issues with 1 generic case that almost scratched my baseplate because of an exposed metal snap. For your situation, i’d suggest looking into the Kaza Deluxe Leica M11 Leather Half Case because it has a reallyyy secure fit and the battery door access is reliable without feeling flimsy. Basically, the lesson i learned as a beginner is to always check if the interior is fully lined with suede or leather so you dont have metal-on-metal contact ruining that expensive finish! gl!
This^ Also wanted to add, been using Leica for years and LIM'S Design Leica M11 Leather Half Case is a pretty solid option for battery access if ur on a budget. TL;DR: Try Lims.
oh man, congrats on the M11!! seriously, such a dream camera. i'm kinda new to the whole Leica ecosystem but i've spent way too many hours researching this exact thing lol. i really wanted that protection without losing the tactile vibe of the metal body. Here's what I recommend based on my digging and trying a few out: - Arte di Mano Aventino M11 Half Case: honestly, this is the holy grail. they use Minerva Box leather which is super soft but grippy. it's hand-stitched in Seoul and the fit is basically 1:1. the best part is you can order it with the "open bottom" or a specific flap for the battery and SD card access. it's crazy expensive (like $450+) but the craftsmanship is actually mind-blowing. it feels like it's part of the camera, not just a cover.
- Oberwerth Taglio M11 Half Case: this is a close second! it’s a bit more "technical" feeling. they use a reinforced inner frame so it holds its shape really well. it has a magnetic flap on the bottom for the battery which is super convenient for quick swaps. it feels slightly thicker than the Arte di Mano, which i think helps with the grip if you have bigger hands?? plus the leather is super durable.
- Luigi Crescenzi M11 Deluxe Case: this one is for that old-school vibe. it’s very artisanal and smells AMAZING. some people say the fit is a bit looser than the modern laser-cut ones, but for that "vintage" feel, it's the one. tbh, if you want the absolute best grip and slim profile, Arte di Mano wins every time. but if you want something easier to get without the 4-6 week wait times, the Oberwerth is probably the move. lowkey, that magnetic flap is a lifesaver when ur out shooting all day. gl with the choice! peace ✌️
