What are the must-have accessories for a new Leica M11?

Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger and joined the M family with a brand new Leica M11, and I’m absolutely in love with the image quality so far. However, coming from a more 'standard' mirrorless system, the minimalist nature of the M-system is a bit of a shift for me. I want to make sure I’m setting myself up for success without cluttering such a beautiful piece of machinery with unnecessary gear.

I’ve been looking into a few things already. Since the M11 has that great internal storage and USB-C charging, do I really need to carry multiple spare batteries, or is one usually enough for a full day of street photography? I’m also a bit nervous about the handling; should I look into a Visoflex 2 for better composition, or does a simple thumb grip make a bigger difference for ergonomics and stability? I definitely want to protect the rear display, but I’m seeing mixed reviews on which screen protectors actually maintain the clarity of the glass without adding glare.

I’m trying to keep the kit relatively lean but functional. For those of you who have been shooting with the M11 for a while, what are the absolute essentials you’d recommend to a newcomer? Specifically, what’s the one accessory that significantly improved your shooting experience or gave you much-needed peace of mind?

basically, i’ve been shooting for years but i’m still kinda new to the Leica world myself! i quickly learned that the M-system is all about that 'less is more' vibe. For your situation, I've found that one Leica BP-SCL7 Lithium-Ion Battery is usually plenty cuz the M11 is way more efficient than older models... works well for a full day. Plus, you can just top it off with a power bank. If you wanna save some cash, definitely look at the Haoge THB-M11B Thumb Grip for around $40—it’s seriously a game changer for stability and way cheaper than the brand name ones. Honestly, I'm so satisfied with the JJC GSP-M11 Tempered Glass Screen Protector too. It costs like $10 and i have no complaints about the clarity. why pay more?? You keep the kit lean and ur wallet happy haha. gl!

Yo! Honestly, I totally get being nervous about handling such a pricey beast. In my experience, focusing on *safety* first gives you the best peace of mind so you can actually enjoy shooting without constantly worrying about scratches. Here is what I recommend for keeping things lean but secure: * **Body Protection:** I'd grab the Leica M11 Protector - Black Leather (24028). It adds much-needed grip and protects the magnesium body from dings without blocking the USB-C port for charging. * **Lens Safety:** Tbh, get a high-end UV filter immediately. I swear by the B+W 46mm Master 010 UV/Haze MRC Nano Filter. It's way cheaper to replace a filter than a Leica lens element if you bump into something... which will happen!
* **Security:** For a strap, the Peak Design Slide Lite Camera Strap SLL-BK-3 is basically a must. Those anchors are sooo secure compared to traditional rings. Anyway, the M11 battery is basically a tank, so you're fine with one. gl!

Just sharing my experience: compared the Leica grip vs the EVF vs a case. Grip was sturdier/cheaper; EVF felt bulky/pricey. Honestly, just go with Leica brand, it wont let u down!
