Ive been shooting with my OM-D for years and usually Im fine carrying a bag of primes but Im heading to Japan next month and the thought of swapping glass in crowded temples is already making me stressed. I tried relying on the 14-42mm kit lens last weekend and it was honestly just soft and the slow aperture killed me once the sun dipped. I need one lens that can actually handle street shots and landscapes without being a total brick or making me miss shots while fumbling in my bag. I have about 800 dollars set aside. Is the 12-100mm too heavy for all day carry or should I just get the 12-40mm Pro?
Unfortunately, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO is heavy. I had issues with it.
To add to the point above: in my experience traveling through Japan, those temple crowds are no joke. TBH swapping glass in a sea of people is just a nightmare. I've tried many setups over the years but I'm always worried about gear safety in tight spots. I think I heard some heavier zooms don't balance well on smaller bodies? Are you using a compact body or one with a grip? Not sure but IIRC weight distribution really matters.
