I'm looking for a compact travel tripod for my OM-5 setup. Since M4/3 gear is so light, I want something that fits inside a daypack without weighing me down. I’ve looked at the Peak Design Carbon, but is it overkill for smaller lenses? What’s your favorite stable but tiny option under $300?

For your situation, I honestly think the Peak Design IS overkill. Here's what I recommend: - Sirui T-025SK Carbon Fiber Tripod with B-00K Ball Head: My fave! It's sooo light and fits INSIDE my daypack easily.
- Leofoto MT-03 Spider Desktop Tripod with MBH-19 Ball Head: Basically a tank but tiny. Highkey perfect for m43 setups! Both are super stable and way under $300. gl! 👍

yo, I totally get the struggle of finding a tripod that doesnt dwarf an OM-5 kit. Since that camera is basically the king of lightweight setups, u definitely dont want a bulky tripod ruining the vibe. I've been shooting M4/3 for years and honestly, u can save a ton of money by skipping the ultra-premium brands if u arent hauling heavy full-frame glass. Here are two options I've been really happy with for travel: Benro Slim Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with N00P Ball Head vs Slik Sprint Pro III BH Travel Tripod with SBH-100DQ Ball Head I mean, the Benro Slim is probably the sweet spot for budget carbon fiber. Pros: It's crazy light (well under 2 lbs) and it’s so thin when folded that it literally disappears in a side pocket of a daypack. The build quality feels way more expensive than it is.
Cons: Twist locks can be a bit finicky if u get sand in them, and it’s not meant for a massive telephoto, but for an OM-5? It’s rock solid. Then there’s the Slik Sprint Pro III. Pros: It uses lever locks which I lowkey prefer for speed. It also has a great mechanism for low-angle shots which is clutch for macro. It’s aluminum but still super light.
Cons: Not quite as dampening as carbon, so in high wind u might feel it a bit more. Honestly, I’d grab the Benro Slim Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod. It feels like the perfect companion for the OM-5 without breaking the $300 limit—usually u can find it for around $120-150. Such a steal for carbon. gl with the search!!
