Any Price drop on Nikon Z8?

Hi fellow Nikon shooters,

I’m seriously considering upgrading from my trusty D850 to the Z8 to finally jump into mirrorless, but the current price tag is holding me back slightly. With the recent release of the Z6III, I’m wondering if anyone has heard rumors about an official price reduction for the Z8 coming soon?

Does Nikon typically offer significant discounts during upcoming seasonal sales, or is my best bet to wait until Black Friday? I’m eager to get my hands on that stacked sensor, but I’d hate to buy now and see it drop $500 next month.

Thanks for any insights

I wouldn't hold my breath for a permanent price drop just yet, but Nikon is pretty consistent with their 'Instant Savings' rebates. We usually see a cycle of discounts in late summer (August/September) and then the big ones starting in November for the holidays. If you can wait, Black Friday is almost guaranteed to have some kind of deal, likely $300-$500 off or a free memory card/battery bundle. Keep an eye on Nikon Refurbished sales too; they recently had Z8s for around $3,200.

Honestly, im in the exact same boat as you right now. I've been eyeing that Z8 to replace my old gear too, but the total cost is just making me hesitate. Its not just the body, right? Its all the extra stuff you need to buy just to get it working like your old setup. I am pretty happy with what I have for now, but I am worried about:

Hey there! Oh man, I totally get wanting to snag that Z8 without paying full MSRP. It's a sweet camera, no doubt about it! While everyone's chasing those deals, I've been looking at it from a slightly different angle, you know? Since the Z8 is still pretty new and a flagship, official price drops are rare as hen's teeth. What I've found really helpful, especially for my own gear upgrades, is looking into DIY solutions or ways to effectively lower the *total* cost of ownership, rather than just the sticker price.

For example, have you thought about looking at used Z8 bodies that are in excellent condition? Sometimes you can find them from reputable dealers or even private sellers who are upgrading themselves. And then, consider what accessories you *really* need right away. Instead of bundling everything, maybe get the body and a crucial lens, and then find deals on other accessories later. Sometimes, it's not about the camera itself dropping in price, but finding smart ways to get the most bang for your buck. I've seen some fantastic deals on third-party accessories that perform just as well as the official ones, for a fraction of the cost. Just my two cents, but it's something to consider when that price tag feels a bit steep!

Hey there! I totally get wanting to snag that Z8 without paying full MSRP. Honestly, for a flagship model like that, especially since it's still so hot and Nikon hasn't had a reason to significantly discount it yet, official price drops are rare. Over the years, I've learned that with high-demand, relatively new cameras, you're more likely to see bundle deals or maybe some special financing offers rather than straight-up price reductions. It's a bit of a waiting game. My advice? Keep an eye on those major retailers, but also consider looking at reputable grey market dealers if you're comfortable with that – you might find slightly better pricing there, though you'll want to be extra cautious about warranty and return policies. Or, sometimes, retailers will do 'mystery' sales or limited-time promotions where the Z8 might be included. Don't forget to check dedicated Nikon forums and Facebook groups too; sometimes members share heads-up about upcoming sales before they're widely advertised. It's all about being patient and persistent!

Hey there! I totally get wanting to snag that Z8 without paying full MSRP. It's a sweet camera, no doubt about it! While everyone's chasing those deals, I've been looking at how other brands handle their flagship releases. Honestly, Nikon tends to be pretty solid with keeping prices stable on their newer, high-demand bodies like the Z8, especially since it's still so relatively new and popular for wildlife and sports. Canon and Sony sometimes have quicker drops or more aggressive bundles after a year or so, but Nikon's approach is usually more measured. So, while I haven't seen any official drops on the Z8 itself, I'd suggest keeping an eye on authorized dealers for potential bundle deals – sometimes they throw in a lens or accessory that effectively lowers the overall cost. Be careful though, and always check prices across a few reputable retailers. It might just take a bit more patience than with other brands.

Hey there! It's totally understandable you're hunting for a deal on the Z8. Honestly, I've found that pricing can sometimes be a bit regional, especially with these higher-end bodies. In my neck of the woods, I haven't seen any big official drops yet, but there have been some pretty sweet bundle deals pop up that effectively bring the price down if you need accessories too. Keep an eye out for those from the big retailers; they can be a good way to save without a direct price cut on the body itself.
