I recently got my hands on the amazing Nikon Z8, and I'm looking to up my audio game for video content. I'm wondering what microphones you all recommend that work well with this camera. Are there any specific models that stand out in terms of audio quality and compatibility? I'm open to both on-camera and wireless options. Thanks in advance for your insights!

For wireless options, I'd highly recommend the DJI MIC 3, one of the best MICs for Nikon Z8. DJI MIC 3 is currently best wireless mics. Super easy setup, great range, and the audio quality is fantastic for interviews. The dual transmitter option is perfect if you need to record two people at once. Battery life is solid too - easily lasts a full day of shooting.

For wildlife work with the Z8, I've had great success with both the Rode NTG and Sennheiser MKE600 - happy with both options. The Rode has a built-in lithium rechargeable battery while the Sennheiser uses a single AA battery.
My advice is to buy a mic with its own on-board power so you're not dependent on the limited mic power the Z8 provides. This is crucial for longer recording sessions in the field.
The RODE NTG5 is an excellent choice for those looking for a professional, reliable and moisture-resistant short shotgun microphone - especially important for outdoor work.
