Hey everyone!

So, I'm getting really into trying to snag some good deals on Amazon Canada, and I'm finding it a bit of a wild west out there. I've been eyeing a few specific items, mostly tech gadgets and some home goods that seem to fluctuate in price quite a bit. I'm at the point where I'm constantly refreshing the pages, hoping to catch a dip, and honestly, it's becoming a bit of a time sink!

Has anyone had any luck with specific Chrome extensions that work well for tracking prices on Amazon.ca? I'd love to hear your recommendations and any tips you might have for finding those hidden gems without spending hours staring at my screen! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Hello, you can use the chrome extension: When Price Drop: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/when-price-drop-amazon-pr/kadfjfepladdilgjofbkblmpfbmcflij

> Has anyone had any luck with specific Chrome extensions that work well for tracking prices on Amazon.ca? Honestly, you gotta be realy careful with what you install. A lot of these newer extensions are basically just data scrapers that can be super buggy or even a security risk (which is wierd, tbh). I've seen some that totally lag the browser. For pure reliability, I always suggest The Camelizer. It's the extension for CamelCamelCamel. It's been around forever and is super stable on the Canadian site. It doesnt track your every move like some others do, and the price history graphs are basically essential for seeing if a "deal" is actually a deal. Better to stick with the tried-and-true stuff if you value your privacy and want something that wont crash. Works great for me.

Building on the earlier suggestion, you really need to try the Keepa extension! It is seriously amazing for Canadian shoppers and shows way more data than most other tools. I used it to snag my SanDisk 256GB Extreme PRO SDXC when the price tanked last month! Honestly, having a fast card has been a game changer since I started messing around with burst mode on my Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera. I am still such a newbie but I have been taking like a thousand photos of my golden retriever every single day lol. He is probably so tired of me pointing a lens at him but he is just so photogenic! I really need to learn how to actually use Lightroom instead of just clicking the auto button every time... anyway, definitely look into Keepa but yeah!

Honestly, I have to agree with the security concerns mentioned. From a market research perspective, many of these "free" tools are basically just data harvesting operations disguised as helpful scripts. When you install an extension that needs permissions for all your site data, its often tracking session IDs and clickstream data to build consumer profiles behind the scenes. A few technical things to watch for:
- High CPU usage in the Chrome task manager; if its lagging your browser, the code is likely inefficiently scraping the DOM or running background processes.
- Permissions that dont match the actual utility of the tool.
- Frequent, vague updates that might just be workarounds for site-side security blocks rather than actual feature improvements. Idk if everyone realizes the trade-off, but your essentially trading your privacy for a little bit of convenience. Its SO important to vet the developer background. Tbh, a lot of the newer ones lack proper documentation or a clear revenue model, which is usually a major red flag for how they handle your data.

Just found this thread. Before I suggest anything else, what specific tech are you actually looking for? Just wondering cuz some extensions are okay for big stuff like monitors but they totally miss the boat on smaller accessories or specific brands. A few quick warnings from someone who has been doing this way too long:

  • Be careful with anything that asks to read and change all your data. Honestly, some of these newer ones are just laggy data scrapers that arent worth the headache... they'll slow your browser to a crawl.
  • If you happen to be tracking shoes or sportswear too, you might want to consider this Nike price tracker because the standard Amazon tools are notoriously bad at tracking specific size and color combos. I would suggest sticking to the well-known ones for now and maybe checking the warehouse deals manually every once in a while. Sometimes the best price drops arent even on the main product page tho... they are hidden in the other sellers section.

Hey there! Oh man, I totally get that Amazon Canada price-tracking struggle. It's definitely a different beast compared to the US site, and trying to catch those dips without becoming a human refresh button is exhausting.

In my experience, finding extensions that *reliably* handle Amazon.ca can be a bit of a chore. A lot of them are indeed US-centric. I've tried many over the years, and what I've found is that extensions that rely on broad scraping tend to break or become unreliable quickly with Amazon's constant site updates.

For Amazon.ca specifically, I've had the most consistent success with **Keepa**. Now, a lot of people associate Keepa with its paid features, and they are fantastic, but the *free* functionality is still pretty robust for what you're asking. It offers price history charts for pretty much every Amazon domain, including .ca, and it'll show you historical pricing data. You can set up price drop alerts, and honestly, their data is usually very accurate. It's not always the most visually slick interface, but for raw data and reliability on .ca, it's my go-to. It directly integrates into the product page, so you don't have to navigate to a separate site. You just see the chart right there.

While there might be other niche extensions out there, Keepa's commitment to data and its support for multiple Amazon marketplaces, including Canada, makes it a solid, albeit sometimes overlooked, free option for price tracking. Just make sure you're looking at the .ca data within the extension itself. Give it a shot, and let us know how it works out for you!
