Looking for a gimbal for my Sony a7iii. So many options! What's a good one around the $300 mark?

Ugh, I'm in the exact same boat and honestly it is so frustrating. I've been looking for weeks and it feels like a total scam half the time. You spend a fortune on a nice camera and then these companies expect you to trust some flimsy plastic rig that feels like it's gonna snap the second you put a real lens on it. It drives me crazy how much the quality has gone downhill while the prices just keep climbing.

  • Motors that start whining after two weeks
  • Apps that never actually connect when you need them
  • Cheap mounting plates that feel like they're made of soda cans I'm honestly terrified of my gear hitting the pavement because of a motor failure. Tbh it feels like nobody is making stuff that actually lasts anymore, they just want us to buy the next model in six months. It really makes you want to just give up on the whole idea of getting smooth shots... just feels like a constant gamble with your equipment.

Hey! I've used the Zhiyun Crane M2. It's tricky at first, but solid once dialed in. Consider a pro setup if you're shooting anything risky, though!

Before buying, ensure the gimbal's motors are correctly rated for your a7iii's weight with the heaviest lens you use. Payload capacity is key. DJI's RSC 2 might work if within spec.

Forget fancy! Grab a used Zhiyun Crane v2. Reliable, powerful, and often under $200! Get filming!

Prioritize secure camera mounting. DJI's Ronin series are reliable; verify payload capacity for your a7iii, though.

Been using a Weebill S with my a7iii for three years. No complaints. Payload capacity is perfect (around 4lbs) and it's held up great. Consider the battery life though – might need extras for longer shoots. Solid choice in the long run.

For smooth footage, consider Moza AirCross 2. Forget stated payload; its motors handle a7iii lenses far better than cheaper gimbals. Worth the extra $50 for the performance boost.

Beyond brand hype, remember gimbal longevity hinges on maintenance. Unfortunately, many overlook this! Around $300, the Zhiyun Crane M3 SE is decent, but factor in service costs. Regularly check motor tension (per manufacturer specs) and balance calibration. I've had issues with cheaper gimbals needing frequent recalibration, not as good as expected. Consider a professional service after a year to ensure reliability.

Around $300? Zhiyun's in that sweet spot! I've seen some reliability data suggesting they're a solid mid-range choice. Worth checking out!

If you're in Arizona, consider a Zhiyun Weebill. Dust and heat can kill others fast!

DIY'ing is fun! Check FeiyuTech. Amazing results if you're willing to tinker; saves $!
