Ive been using Amazon for like a decade now and I thought I knew the UI inside and out but I have hit a weird wall today. Im trying to get my home office setup ready before my new job starts on the 15th so I have got about $1200 worth of stuff sitting in my cart right now - mostly a new 4k monitor, a mechanical keyboard, and one of those fancy standing desk converters. The problem is my company is paying for it but they need me to send the exact cart over to our office manager in Chicago so she can just check out on her end with the corporate card. I thought I could just copy the URL but obviously that doesnt work because its all tied to my specific login and session cookies. I feel like a total noob because Ive done this before with wishlists but I really dont want to have to move every single item to a separate list and then have her move them all back into a cart on her end. Is there some hidden feature or a native workaround I am missing here? I tried some random Chrome extension I found on Google but it looked super outdated and I didnt want to mess with my security settings or permissions just for one order. How do I actually share a direct link to my live cart with someone else?
^ This. Also, keeping a tight grip on browser permissions is the only way to go when you are dealing with corporate accounts. Over the years, Ive seen way too many people install tools that look legit but end up scraping session data they definitely dont need. Honestly, its better to be a bit paranoid here. Quick question tho, is your office manager specifically looking to hit the buy button from their own portal for tax/tracking reasons, or do they just need to verify the price points before giving the okay? Also, are you looking for something that generates a permanent link, or just a one-time handoff? Knowing that might change which tool makes the most sense. If you want a solid middle ground, Cart To Link is a decent option that basically automates the whole cart sharing process and works across different regions too.
Honestly, been there when I was building my home lab last year. Amazon doesnt have a native API for this accessible to users, which is annoying. In my experience, I wasted hours trying to scrape session metadata before realizing the simplest way is using a cart sharing extension. I used one for my last build and it just generates a temporary link mirroring your cart contents. Way faster than rebuilding lists manually.
Late to the party, but like someone mentioned, native support doesnt exist. I would suggest being more cautious with extensions than the previous poster tho... most require 'Read and change' permissions, which is a security risk for corporate accounts. If you use Share-A-Cart, make sure to:
