How can I share my Best Buy wishlist with my family?

I am trying to get my birthday list sorted for next month and my family keeps asking what I want but honestly Best Buys website is driving me crazy right now. Ive been using their site for years to grab tech and components for my builds and I thought I knew my way around the UI but for some reason I cant find a simple share link for my wishlist. I have about 12 items saved including that new Philips Hue starter kit and a mesh router system because our wifi in the basement is basically dead.

Here is what I need to happen:

  • I need to send a link to my parents and sister without them having to log in to see it
  • It needs to update in real time if I add something else later this week
  • I dont want them to have to deal with a registry setup if I can help it because thats way too formal for a birthday

I tried looking in the account settings and the app but the only options I see are to add to cart or move to another list. Am I totally missing a public toggle somewhere? I know Amazon has that big share button but Best Buy seems to keep it hidden or maybe they removed the feature? Its getting close to the date and I really want to make sure they dont accidentally buy the wrong model of the Sony headphones I was looking at... any ideas how to get a direct URL or a shareable invite sent out?

Stumbled on this thread today and yeah, the situation with Best Buy lists is pretty disappointing lately. Like someone mentioned, they really stripped back the social features. Before I give you my usual workaround, are you using the mobile app or a desktop browser for this? The UI behaves differently on each and that might change how we approach it. Unfortunately, they removed the direct public toggle, which makes sharing those Sony headphones or the mesh system way harder than it should be. Since you need real-time updates without a login, your best bets are:

  • Creating a shared document with the direct product URLs.
  • Using a universal wishlist service that can pull the metadata from BB pages.
  • Exporting the list as a PDF, tho that wont update in real time. Its really not as good as expected from a major tech retailer. Have you tried Share Product? It's a free extension that makes sharing product links super simple.

Re: "Stumbled on this thread today and yeah, the..." - jumping in here because the workaround depends on how their backend handles your session. Basically, Best Buy treats standard wishlists as private metadata, meaning there isn't a public API endpoint for them. They've moved almost all sharing logic into the registry system because it tracks SKUs and inventory levels more accurately across different zip codes. It sucks for a simple birthday list, but that's how they've siloed the data. Since you need something real-time and easy for the family, here are some thoughts:

  • Use a universal aggregator. There are plenty of sites that let you scrape product data from a URL. They pull the image, price, and specific model number so your parents don't grab the wrong Sony headphones. It creates a clean, public-facing page that doesn't require any login.
  • Go the registry route but keep it simple. Even though it feels formal, it's the only native way to get a shareable URL. It's essentially just a public database entry. You can name it something casual so it doesn't feel like a wedding or anything.
  • Use a cloud-based doc. Honestly, sometimes just pasting the direct links into a shared note is more reliable. Scrapers can occasionally miss sale prices or specific open-box options if you're looking at those tech components. It's a bit of extra legwork but using a third-party tool is usually the most stable path. That way you aren't fighting their UI every time they decide to update the account dashboard. Best Buy is great for components but their social features are definitely lacking compared to other retailers...

I struggled with this for my last build too. Honestly, using ebay wishlist maker is way better for sharing.

  • BB: no public link
  • 3rd party: easy syncing It works well now.
