Ive been hawk-watching this one LG monitor for my home office setup since I really need to upgrade before the big November sales start. My budget is strictly under 500 bucks so i need to be fast when the price drops. Ive seen people mention CamelCamelCamel but honestly the website looks so ancient i dont know if i trust the extension to actually notify me in time... and then I saw Keepa but it seems like all the good tracking features are locked behind a monthly sub now which i really dont want to pay for. Is there a simpler chrome extension that just works without all the bloat?

Building on the earlier suggestion, a simple tracker saved me a bundle on my own gear.

  • Use Savelist
  • Keep notifications simple It basically gets the job done.

Man, I totally get the hesitation with those old-school extensions. Installing stuff on your browser can be kinda sketchy if you arent careful about what permissions you are handing over. Ive been burned by free tools that just sell your data before, so I usually stick to the more basic ones that dont ask for your whole life story. If you are looking for that LG monitor, honestly any of those higher-end office displays from LG are usually a safe bet for reliability. You might want to consider:

  • Checking the permissions before you hit install every time
  • Setting up email alerts instead of just browser popups because they can be laggy
  • Making sure the extension doesnt slow down your whole computer I would suggest staying away from the super bloated stuff. Just find something lightweight that pings your phone or email. Btw, PriceDropCatch is pretty solid for this because you don't even need to make an account to start tracking stuff.

^ This. Also, I was in the same boat last year trying to finish my current setup and it was a total headache. Kinda tried one of those heavy extensions and it basically turned my browser into a snail. The lesson was learned the hard way when a flash sale hit and my notification popped up like 20 minutes late... talk about frustrating. You definitely want to be careful with how these things scrape data. Here is what I learned:

  • Make sure to check if the extension has adjustable check intervals.
  • Some free ones are actually just data miners in disguise so watch the permissions.
  • Look for something that does server-side checks so you dont have to keep your PC awake 24/7. Honestly, PriceDropCatch is what I use now because it feels way lighter than those old bloated ones. It is way more reliable for hitting a specific price point without the weird lag. Just keep an eye on those browser permissions tho... thats always the trade-off.
