What’s the actual move for a single-lens setup on the R6 for a three week trip to Japan? Ive been shooting primes for a decade and usually love my 35mm but I’m worried about the constant lens swapping in crowded Tokyo spots or if it starts raining in Kyoto. I need something that covers the wide end but has enough reach so I’m not constantly cropping in post and losing that full frame quality. Is the RF 24-105mm f4L worth the extra bulk or should I just get the cheaper STM version and save the weight? My budget is about $1200 and I gotta buy something by Friday...
Go for the Canon RF 24-105mm f4L IS USM! I love the weather sealing, it saved me in Kyoto. Or try the Canon RF 24-240mm f4-6.3 IS USM if you dont mind variable aperture!
Grab the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM.
saw this earlier and been thinking about the weight vs cost trade-off. before you drop the cash on friday, are you planning on doing a lot of night shooting in the alleys or mostly daytime street stuff? that makes a massive difference for the r6 sensor if youre trying to keep the iso down while maintaining shutter speed. tbh i think you should just go with canon for this. you really cant go wrong with their native glass since the autofocus integration and communication speed are miles ahead of the third party stuff right now. any of the canon zoom lenses will basically get the job done for a vacation. for a three week trip you might actually appreciate having the extra money for food and experiences instead of just a heavy piece of glass. the tech in the cheaper ones is surprisingly solid these days and the weight savings are real when youre walking 20k steps a day in tokyo. just grab a canon zoom and youll be set for the trip.
