I'm in the market for a new memory card for my a7IV, and I'm torn between a UHS-II V60 card and a UHS-II V90 card. I mainly shoot 4K video and high-resolution stills, but I'm not sure if I need the extra speed of the V90. The price difference is significant, so I'm wondering if the V60 would be sufficient for my needs. Has anyone used both types of cards and noticed a real-world difference in performance? Is the V90 worth the extra cost, or should I save some money and go with the V60? Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I've used both V60 and V90 cards with my a7IV, and honestly, for most shooting scenarios, the V60 is more than sufficient. The a7IV's highest bitrate for 4K video is around 600 Mbps, which a good V60 card can handle easily. Unless you're shooting in All-I format or doing a lot of high-speed continuous shooting, you probably won't notice much difference. Save your money and go with the V60 – put the savings towards a nice lens or some other gear!

I'm a wedding photographer, and I use V90 cards exclusively. While the V60 is capable, I appreciate the peace of mind that comes with knowing I have more than enough speed for any situation. That said, if you're not shooting professionally or in high-pressure situations, the V60 is likely all you need. The a7IV doesn't push the limits of V60 cards in most scenarios.
