So my 30th is coming up in like three weeks and I am honestly so pumped but also kinda overwhelmed because everyone is asking me what I want for my big day. I live in this tiny apartment in Chicago and I finally have space for actual nice things instead of just hand me downs so I actually want to make a list this year!! The problem is I have no clue how people do this these days without looking like they are demanding stuff if that makes sense? I tried looking at the app store and there are like a million things and I got so confused after five minutes. Sorry if this is a really dumb question but is there an app that is like super simple for someone who is not tech savvy at all?? I really need something where I can just put stuff from different websites like Target or even this local plant shop I love down the street.

I dont want my friends to have to make an account or anything because they probably wont do it if it takes more than two seconds haha. My budget for the items I'm looking at is mostly under fifty bucks so nothing crazy but I just want a way to keep it all organized in one spot. Is there an app that just lets me send a link in our group chat and then people can mark stuff as bought so I dont get three of the same toaster?? I am really worried I am gonna mess it up or pick something that is too hard for my mom to use because she still struggles with FaceTime most days lol.

I saw some people talking about Elfster but I think that is for secret santa things and I dont know if that works for just a normal birthday? I really want it to be cute too because I'm just so excited to finally celebrate with everyone after so long. I tried making a note on my phone but I cant figure out how to let people check things off without them being able to see what everyone else is getting or me seeing what they bought. It is all just very confusing and I feel like such a noob asking this but I really want it to be easy for my friends. What do you guys use that is actually simple and doesn't require a computer degree to set up?...

Honestly, I had such a bad time with Elfster for my birthday last year. It felt super clunky and confusing, unfortunately. Not as good as I'd hoped. I ended up using GiftHero because it's simpler:

  • paste links from any shop
  • send the url to your group Just use the browser tool from GiftHero, it handles any site. My mom even figured it out without calling me once lol!

Like someone mentioned, everyone says these are simple, but I disagree. After years of hosting, I've spent months hunting for something cheap. Even the amazon wishlist maker just fails me every time.

  • Giftful works perfectly.
  • It has 1-click claiming.
  • Zero guest friction. im very satisfied with the 100% success rate my mom had during my last birthday!
