torn between the Sony a6000 and the Canon R100 for my Italy trip in three weeks. so I was thinking the Sony has better lens options but then the Canon is newer tech and my logic was maybe it handles colors better? budget is hard capped at $600 including a lens. which is the better buy...
In my experience over the years, you should definitely grab the Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless with 16-50mm Lens. Its an older model but way more reliable for a big trip like Italy. Honestly, the newer tech in the Canon isnt worth the limited lens options yet.
If you want the best bang for your buck, look at the Panasonic LUMIX G7 with 14-42mm Lens. I love it for travel because the lenses are tiny and way cheaper than Sony glass! You can find it under $500 easily, leaving you extra money for amazing meals in Italy. The colors are fantastic and it feels like a pro camera. Seriously, dont sleep on Micro Four Thirds, those weight savings are life-changing!
@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly tho, skip the R100. I used one for a weekend and the fixed screen was a total nightmare for street shots. If you want amazing colors and better tech, the Sony ZV-E10 Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm Lens is a beast with insane autofocus! Or try to find a used Canon EOS R50 with RF-S 18-45mm Lens since it totally destroys that R100 for speed. Youll love Italy!
