What lens is actually good for landscapes on the a7R V because im honestly fed up with my 24-105 being so soft in the corners. I have a trip to Zion in two weeks and need something sharp enough for the 61mp sensor. Budget is around $2200, should I just go prime or is there a zoom that isnt trash?

In my experience, you gotta go with the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II. Its the only zoom that actually handles 61mp without those mushy corners youre seeing now.

Saw this thread today and had to chime in because I struggled with this exact thing last year. That 61mp sensor is totally unforgiving and really shows when a lens is struggling. I eventually settled on the Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art for Sony E because the price was right and the glass is actually super sharp. Its a bit heavy, but the corner performance is night and day compared to the 24-105. If you're worried about the weight for Zion hikes, the Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD is a decent budget pick too. Its way cheaper and honestly does the job if you arent looking for absolute perfection. I usually stop mine down to f/9 and it cleans up nicely. Just something to think about if you dont want to blow your whole $2200 on one piece of glass... have an awesome trip!

Saw this thread today and honestly, you gotta be careful with zooms on that 61mp sensor. Corners are always the struggle. Before I suggest a prime, are you planning to use circular filters or a square system? If you want edge-to-edge sharpness, the Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G is a sleeper hit. Otherwise, the Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM is basically perfect for those Zion walls without that zoom mush...
