Top tripod and head combo for Sony a7 series?

I’m shooting with a Sony a7 series body and need a solid tripod + head combo that won’t wobble with a mid-size zoom (around 24-70). I do a mix of travel landscapes and occasional video, so smooth panning would be a plus. Budget is roughly $300–$600. What combo would you recommend and why?

For your situation, I’d grab Benro TMA38CL Mach3 Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod + Benro S4PRO Video Head (usually lands in that $500-600 range). I’ve run this with my a7 + 24-70 and it’s honestly super solid, no weird micro-wobble, and the pan/tilt is *actually* smooth for casual video. If you want smaller for travel, Sirui T-024SK Carbon Fiber Tripod with B-00K Ball Head is a killer lightweight option, just less video-friendly. cheers!

Story time: I went through this last year w/ an a7 body + 24-70 and got tired of the “why is my horizon drifting??” vibe lol. I ended up running a travel-friendly leg set and then swapping heads depending on photo vs video.

What worked for me:
- Leofoto LS-324C Carbon Fiber Tripod (stiff for the size, packs decently, less flex than my older travel sticks)
- Sirui VA-5X Video Head for casual video (drag feels surprisingly controlled, pan is actually usable)
- Benro GX35 Ball Head when I’m mostly shooting stills (faster to level/recompose, less bulky)

Not saying its *the* answer, but that “2 heads, 1 set of legs” thing saved me a lot of compromise... anyway, gl!

+1 on the “one setup for photo + casual video” idea — ngl a budget fluid head helps a ton; I’d also look at Sirui AM-254 Carbon Fiber Tripod + Sirui VA-5 Fluid Video Head for smoother pans without the weird micro-stutter, imo.

Ok so for ur a7 + 24-70, I’d go Manfrotto Befree 3-Way Live Advanced Aluminum Tripod Kit with MVH400AH Head if you want ONE setup that’s stable + safe for video. It’s not the lightest, but honestly it won’t do that sketchy twisty wobble, and the fluid pan is smooth enough for travel clips. Usually like $300–$450. If you’re closer to $600, Manfrotto 055 Aluminum 3-Section Tripod with 502AH Video Head is a tank. cheers
