Hey everyone! I finally made the jump and picked up a Sony A7IV for my upcoming three-week trip through Japan. I am super excited to put it to use, but I am realizing that the basic body and lens combo is not quite enough for a full travel setup.
Since mirrorless cameras can be a bit power-hungry, I am already looking into extra NP-FZ100 batteries, but I am curious about what else is actually worth the suitcase space. I want to keep things relatively light because I will be doing a ton of walking, but I do not want to regret leaving something important at home. I have been looking at things like Peak Design straps, sensor cleaning kits, and maybe a compact travel tripod, but there are so many options out there it is getting a bit overwhelming.
I am trying to keep my additional gear budget under $400 for now. I am particularly worried about memory card speeds for 4K video and whether a specialized camera bag is better than just using a padded insert in my regular backpack. I want to avoid carrying a massive kit if I can help it.
For those of you who frequently travel with Sony mirrorless gear, what are the three must-have accessories that you never leave behind?
Seconding the recommendation above! Those Sony cards are actually the best. But if youre looking for better value, the Lexar Professional 1800x 128GB SDXC UHS-II V60 performs great for 4K video but costs way less. Also, for Japan, skip the bulky bag and grab a Tenba BYOB 9 Camera Insert. It basically turns your favorite backpack into a stealth camera bag. Honestly a game changer for long walks. gl!
I've unfortunately had issues with cheap gear. Option A: Peak Design Slide Lite vs stock straps. Option B: Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II 128GB vs basic cards. TL;DR: Quality is better.
Exactly what I was thinking
Works great for me
