Hey fellow photographers! My friend and I are planning an epic travel adventure through Southeast Asia next spring, and I'm finally ready to upgrade from my smartphone photography. With Black Friday coming up, I figure it's the perfect time to invest in a proper camera setup.
I've got a budget of $2500 for both body and lens. I've been eyeing the Canon R8, Sony A7IV, and Fuji X-T5, but I'm open to suggestions. My friend has a Sony system and loves it, which makes me lean that way for gear sharing.
What I'm looking for:
- Good in low light (night markets, temples)
- Weather-sealed for tropical climates
- Versatile lens for travel (thinking 24-70mm range)
- Decent video capabilities for travel vlogs
Has anyone spotted any killer Black Friday deals on these systems? Any experiences with these cameras for travel photography? Would love to hear your recommendations and where you've seen the best discounts.

Just got back from 3 months in SE Asia with the X-T5. The film simulations are perfect for travel - I barely had to edit my photos.
