I’m trying to plan ahead for Cyber Monday 2025 and want to make sure I don’t miss out on the best camera deals this year. I’m mainly looking for a mirrorless camera for both travel and some casual video work (YouTube / short-form content), but I’m open to DSLRs or even higher-end compacts if the discount is really good.

Right now I’m eyeing cameras like the Sony A7 IV, Canon R8/R7, and maybe the Fujifilm X-S20, but I’m not sure which brands or models usually get the biggest price drops on Cyber Monday vs just small “bundle” deals. I’ve heard that some of the best discounts are on slightly older models (like previous-gen full-frame bodies or kits with 24–70mm lenses), but I don’t know what’s realistic to expect in 2025.

Budget-wise, I’m hoping to stay around $1,000–$1,500 total, ideally including at least one decent lens and a memory card. I’m also trying to figure out which stores usually have the most reliable deals: Amazon, B&H, Best Buy, Adorama, or manufacturer sites like Sony/Canon directly.

For those who’ve followed camera sales the last few years, what specific brands/models and retailers should I be watching for the best Cyber Monday camera deals in 2025, and what kind of discounts are actually worth waiting for?

Hey, one angle I haven’t really seen hit hard yet is **compatibility / fitment**, which can absolutely bite you on Cyber Monday if you just chase discounts.

A few things I’d be super careful about:

1. **Lens mount & future upgrades**
- Sony A7 IV = E‑mount (full frame). Make sure any “cheap” lenses in a kit are *FE* (full‑frame) not just APS‑C E‑mount, unless you’re ok shooting in crop mode. Some bundles sneak in APS‑C zooms. Works, but you lose resolution and FOV.
- Canon R7/R8 = RF mount. Watch for EF lenses + adapter in bundles. That’s fine (I’m happy with EF glass on RF), but:
- Video AF works well, but older EF third‑party lenses (Sigma/Tamron) sometimes behave a bit weird for continuous AF.
- Cheap third‑party EF–RF adapters can cause random AF glitches; I’d stick to Canon’s own or a well‑reviewed brand.

2. **Batteries & chargers**
Cyber Monday kits love throwing in off‑brand batteries/chargers. I’m conservative here:
- For a main battery, I’d **avoid no‑name brands**. I’ve seen swelling and weird power‑offs.
- If you do get third‑party, treat it as a backup and keep 1–2 genuine OEM batteries for anything critical.

3. **Cards & recording limits**
For YouTube / short‑form, you’ll be fine, but still:
- Check max bitrate / codec on the body you’re eyeing and make sure the **included card is fast enough**.
- Cheap bundles sometimes throw in slow UHS‑I cards that choke 4K or cause random recording stops. I’d rather buy the body slightly cheaper and add a known‑good card (Sandisk / Lexar etc). I’m way happier since I started ignoring “free 128GB” cards in kits.

4. **Stabilization + lenses**
- R8 has no IBIS. Cyber Monday kits may pair it with non‑IS lenses to keep costs down. That’s fine for stills, but for handheld video you’ll really feel it.
- A7 IV has IBIS, but pairing it with a cheap, unstabilized kit zoom that’s soft wide open can make you less satisfied overall. I’d prioritize at least one decent stabilized lens (or fast prime) over a huge discount on a bad kit zoom.

5. **Firmware / feature compatibility**
Slightly older bodies sometimes need firmware updates to play nicely with newer lenses or accessories. If you buy from Amazon marketplace or a gray‑market seller, you might:
- Get a unit with very old firmware
- Have region‑locked or warranty‑weird bodies where manufacturer support is limited
I’m personally happiest buying from B&H / Adorama / Best Buy / direct manufacturer for that reason. No complaints so far.

6. **Gimbals / cages / rigs**
Since you’re doing video: if you already own a gimbal or cage (or plan to), check weight and physical dimensions. Some cameras (esp with big zooms) push older gimbals past their comfortable payload. Cyber Monday “creator kits” sometimes bundle a tiny gimbal that barely handles a heavier body + lens.

So for 2025, my cautious game plan would be:
- Decide **mount first** (Sony E vs Canon RF vs Fuji X).
- Make a short list of **compatible lenses** you realistically want over the next 2–3 years.
- On Cyber Monday, only consider deals where:
- The body matches that mount.
- The lens is actually a good fit (FF vs APS‑C, has stabilization if you need it).
- Bundled batteries/cards are from brands you trust or you mentally treat them as “free extras,” not core parts of the system.

If you share which accessories you already own (cards, tripod, gimbal, any old DSLR lenses), people here can probably sanity‑check compatibility and help you avoid a mismatched Cyber Monday bundle.

Hope this helps! Feel free to drop a shortlist and I’m happy to nitpick it for fitment issues.
