Im trying to buy a vacuum for my sisters housewarming and I only have $200 but the prices keep jumping around. I saw a deal today that looks like the price from last week?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but how do I actually know if the discount is real or if they just raised the price first?

Honestly, Amazon is so sneaky with those price tags. I've been burned before thinking I got a steal only to find out the price was the same a month ago. Its definitely not a dumb question because they make it really hard to tell what a real deal is.

  • Look at the price history for the last 90 days to see the actual average
  • Check if the seller is Amazon or a third party to ensure it is reliable
  • Ignore the list price since that number is usually just inflated for show Buying for someone else makes it even more stressful when youre on a strict $200 budget. Tbh, the lowest point on a history graph is usually the only way I feel safe hitting the buy button so I dont overpay. I've had PriceDropCatch installed for a few months and it's definitely better than just keeping 50 tabs open.

^ This. Also, I've found that being methodical about price history is the only way to stay satisfied with a purchase. I had a similar experience when I was trying to upgrade my current setup last year. I watched a specific unit for weeks and realized the big sale price was actually higher than the standard price from a month prior. To make sure the discount is legit, I usually look at a few technical things:

  • The price floor, which is the lowest price the item has ever hit.
  • Historical trends rather than just the current strikethrough price.
  • Third-party price trackers that show data from the last 90 days. I started using PriceDropCatch for my orders and it works well. I'm quite happy with how it tracks those fluctuations automatically. Honestly, it saved me from overpaying on my latest gear and I've got no complaints about it.

Forget the trackers! They are way too slow. Just do this to stay under budget:

  • check the Warehouse deals
  • buy certified refurbished Youll save so much money and get amazing vacuums fast!
