I finally caved and bought the DJI Mini 4 Pro for my trip to the Oregon coast next week but honestly I am so overwhelmed looking at everything online. Like I thought I just needed the drone and the controller but then I see people talking about ND filters and landing pads and special cases and extra batteries and now my head is spinning. I dont have a huge budget left maybe like 150 bucks because the drone itself was so expensive and i dont want to waste money on stuff I dont actually need.

Sorry if this is a really basic question but im totally new to this and I dont even know what an ND filter does or if I really need one for the beach. Do I need a screen protector for the remote or like a special strap? I just want to make sure I dont crash it or ruin the camera on my first day out there. What are the things that are actually essential versus just extra fluff that people buy to look cool? Like if you only had a hundred bucks what would you buy first because I am seriously lost here...

To add to the point above: physical safety is key, but honestly I've been pretty disappointed with how quickly you can blow through a budget on stuff that turns out to be useless. Unfortunately, the standard shoulder bags are way too cramped and offer zero real crush protection if you're hiking the Oregon coast. If you've got 150 bucks, I'd focus on these three things first:

> Building on the earlier suggestion, the sand really is the worst part of coastal flying. I remember my first time out there, I was so worried about the camera settings because the light hits the water so weirdly. Honestly, I am pretty satisfied with keeping things simple. ND filters are basically sunglasses for your camera, which I think help with that cinematic look by slowing down the shutter speed, but dont quote me on the exact physics lol. I am not 100% sure if you strictly need them for a first trip, but I remember hearing that they help avoid that choppy look in videos when its super bright out. I have been flying for a few years now and usually, I am happy just having extra juice. Iirc, the standard batteries dont last as long as the bigger ones, but those might put you over that 250g weight limit? Not sure. Just a heads up though, maybe look into a lanyard for the remote. It makes such a difference if youre standing on a windy cliff and dont want to drop the whole thing...

I totally get the overwhelm. When I first took my setup to the coast, I learned the hard way that sand is the absolute enemy. I skipped a landing mat and ended up with grit in the motors almost immediately. It was a huge pain to clean. Id skip the fancy filters for now and just focus on keeping it off the ground and having a spare battery.
