Hey fellow pilots! I finally pulled the trigger and treated myself to the DJI Mini 4 Pro. After watching countless reviews, I am so hyped to get this thing in the air, especially with that impressive omni-directional obstacle sensing. It feels like a real powerhouse for its size, but as I started unboxing it, I realized I might be missing some crucial gear to really get the most out of it.

I am planning to take the drone on a pretty extensive road trip through some national parks soon, and I am a bit nervous about being under-equipped in the field. Since I am moving around a lot, I need to stay organized and efficient. I have already added a set of ND filters to my shopping cart because I know I will need them for those bright midday shots to keep my shutter speed in check, but I am torn between the standard ND sets and the ones that include circular polarizers. Does the polarization make a big difference with glare on water?

Another thing on my mind is protection. The gimbal on this thing looks so delicate! Are there specific screen protectors for the RC 2 controller that you guys recommend, or is the built-in screen tough enough on its own? I am also wondering about those propeller holders or guards. Do they actually help prevent the blades from bending when the drone is stuffed into a hiking backpack, or are they more trouble than they are worth?

I am trying to keep my kit relatively lightweight since portability is the whole reason I went with the Mini series, but I also do not want to regret leaving something behind when I am miles away from the nearest shop. I have seen some people mention landing pads and even high-speed V30 or V60 microSD cards, but I am not sure what is truly a must-have versus just a luxury.

For those of you who have been flying the Mini 4 Pro for a while, what are the absolute essentials that you never leave home without? I would love to hear your recommendations on what actually makes your flights easier or safer.

Similar situation here - slow cards cause fatal write errors. I think I almost crashed once until I found the Samsung EVO Select 256GB microSDXC V30 for $20; it's kept my flights safe ever since!!

+1 to what was said earlier! Those filters and the prop holder are basically essential for a road trip. Since youre hitting national parks, you really gotta protect that RC 2 screen... I mean, one scratch from some grit in your pack and itll drive you crazy. I highly recommend the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Tempered Glass Screen Protector for DJI RC 2 cuz it's super easy to align perfectly. Also, technical tip: dont overlook a landing pad. National parks have tons of dust and tall grass that can gunk up the motors during takeoff. The PGYTECH Drone Landing Pad Pro is great because it folds down tiny. Plus, the Samsung EVO Select 512GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 A2 V30 is a killer alternative for extra storage tho.

  • Screen protectors are a must for the RC 2
  • Landing pads save your motors in the wild Anyway, you're gonna LOVE this thing! cheers

Saw this earlier and had to jump in. I actually had a pretty bad experience with a cheap generic bag that ended up putting pressure on my gimbal during a hike, which was a total nightmare... almost ruined my whole trip to Yosemite. Unfortunately, being too minimal can backfire when youre miles from a charger. Honestly, just grab these two things:

Yo, honestly, id go with Freewell DJI Mini 4 Pro All Day 6-Pack ND/PL Filters over standard ones cuz the polarization really kills water glare. Also, the DJI Mini 4 Pro Propeller Holder is way better than generic guards - it keeps the blades from bending in ur pack. A SanDisk Extreme Pro 256GB UHS-I V30 microSDXC is basically essential for 4K. gl dude.
