I recently upgraded to the DJI Mic 2 two-transmitter kit, and while I love the audio quality, I’m a bit nervous about just tossing the charging case into my gear bag. The soft pouch it comes with feels a little flimsy for travel, and I’m worried about the deadcats and adapters getting lost or crushed. I’m looking for a compact, hard-shell case that can snugly fit the charging case along with a few extra cables and a cold shoe mount. Has anyone found a specific brand or custom-molded case that works perfectly without being too bulky? I’d love to hear what you’re using to keep your setup organized and safe on the go!
Respectfully, I'd consider another option. Custom-molded cases like Smatree are fine, but in my experience, they're too restrictive for extra cables and mounts. * Pelican 1010 Micro Case: Literally immortal and fits the charging case plus accessories easily.
* RLSOCO Hard Case for DJI Mic 2: Slimmer, with a mesh pocket for deadcats. I'd go Pelican... it's more versatile for long-term gear changes. gl!
For your situation, i totally feel u!! i almost broke a transmitter clip using that flimsy pouch, so i highkey recommend the Smatree Carrying Case for DJI Mic 2. it's AMAZING and literally a TANK.
- fits everything SNUG
- custom EVA hard shell
dont risk ur gear... seriously, get a molded case. gl!
sooo lost my adapters twice before learning... i'd suggest the Hermitshell Hard Travel Case for DJI Mic 2. it's budget-friendly and fits everything. basically, dont overpay for a name (learned the hard way)!
Wait, before you buy a pro case, how much room do you actually have in your bag? Like, are you looking for something tiny to tuck into a side pocket or something you can clip on the outside? I'm still pretty new to all this, but I'm a big fan of the DIY route to save some cash since gear is already so expensive. tbh, I've found that generic hardshell tech pouches or even a small Small EVA Hard Shell Electronics Case from a dollar store works great if you just add some craft foam inside to stop the rattling. It’s way cheaper than the branded stuff and you can cut the slots exactly how you want them. Quick tip: Whatever you use, make sure the lid doesn't squash the deadcats or they’ll lose their fluff and won't work as well! Also, tossing a tiny silica gel packet inside the case is a lifesaver for keeping moisture away from those charging pins if you're filming outside a lot.
This^ Also wanted to add that protecting those charging pins is priority #1. I totally get the anxiety... i actually had issues with a cheap generic case before where the lid pressed down too hard on the transmitter screen and almost cracked it. Not a fun day! While the Pelican 1010 Micro Case is a tank, it’s lowkey a bit bulky for my daily bag. Coming back to this with two quick safety tips:
1. Check out the PGYTECH Carrying Case for DJI Mic 2—it's super solid and the molded slots stop the gear from rattling, which is what realy saves ur pins.
2. Always use a case with a zippered mesh pocket for the deadcats so they dont get crushed and lose their fluffiness. Basically, dont risk a $350 kit over a $20 case. gl!
