I just got the DJI Avata 2 and I am honestly so scared to even touch it let alone fly it yet lol. But here is the thing, I have a big hiking trip to Oregon coming up next Friday and I really want to take it with me to get some cool shots of the mountains. The box it came in is huge and obviously I cant just carry that around in my backpack or whatever. I tried looking online but there are so many options and I dont know what the difference is between a hard case and a soft one or if the drone will even fit with the goggles and the controller thingy. I spent way too much money on this thing so I really dont want it to get crushed in my luggage if the airline people are mean to my bag.

I need to fit all the parts in one spot:

  • the drone itself
  • those big goggles
  • the remote controller
  • maybe some extra batteries

Does it need to be waterproof? I saw some that look like little suitcases but maybe that is too heavy for hiking? I have like $75 left in my budget for this and I need to order it like today so it gets here in time for my flight. Sorry if this is a super basic question I am just really overwhelmed with all the gear and dont want to break my new toy on day one. What is the best carrying case for the DJI Avata 2?

You definitely want a hard shell case if youre worried about airline travel. Soft bags look nice but wont stop your drone from getting crushed under a heavy suitcase. I have the STARTRC DJI Avata 2 Waterproof Hard Case Shell with Custom Foam and it works well for keeping everything secure. It fits the drone, goggles, and extra batteries in specific slots so they dont rattle around. Consider these points:

  • The hard exterior handles impact much better than a fabric bag during transport.
  • It is waterproof, which is a lifesaver for hiking in wet environments like Oregon.
  • It is slightly heavier to carry than a bag, but the protection is worth the trade-off. This stays well under your $75 budget and is way safer than the original box. Just make sure the latches are fully clicked shut before you check it at the airport or start your hike.
