I’ve been seeing the DJI RS 5 mentioned in a bunch of recent videos and posts, and I’m ready to pull the trigger, but I’m a little confused about where people are actually pre-ordering and buying it from (and what’s legit vs. sketchy).
I’m based in the US and I’d prefer to buy from an authorized retailer so I don’t run into warranty issues or end up with a weird “international version” situation. When I search, I’m seeing a mix of listings: DJI’s official store, big camera shops, and a handful of third-party sites with prices that look a little too good (or “pre-order” pages with vague ship dates). I’ve also noticed some stores list different bundles (like body-only vs. combo kits), and it’s not clear what’s actually included—especially things like the focus motor, carrying case, or extra plates.
Timing matters for me because I’ve got a small shoot coming up in a few weeks and I’m trying to avoid placing a pre-order that ends up backordered indefinitely. I’m also wondering how the early shipments typically work with DJI releases—do DJI direct orders ship first, or do places like B&H/Adorama/Amazon get stock around the same time?

I pre-ordered my DJI RS 5 from B&H because I wanted a clean US warranty + easy returns, and honestly it was smooth: clear status updates, realistic ETA (it slipped a couple days, not weeks), and packaging was solid.
