What ND filter set should I actually grab for the Osmo Pocket 3? I've been looking at the Freewell Mega pack because everyone says they're the gold standard but then I see the K&F Concept ones are way cheaper and look decent too. I'm going to Iceland in three weeks for a solo trip and really want that smooth motion blur for all the waterfalls. My main worry is the magnet strength

  • I read one guy say his K&F flew off during the gimbal startup and I really dont want to lose my glass in a river somewhere. Is the Freewell glass actually clearer or are we just paying for the name at this point? Idk which way to go...

I have been shooting with gimbals for years and honestly, for a trip like Iceland, you shouldnt be cutting corners. I have tested both brands extensively and the magnet issue is real. In my experience, the last thing you want is a filter flying off into a river because the gimbal recalibrated too fast or caught a gust of wind. Here is how I see them breaking down:

  • Freewell DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Filters Mega 14-Pack: These are the industry standard for a reason. The magnets are incredibly strong and wont budge during startup. The glass has basically zero color shift, which saves a ton of time in post-processing.
  • K&F Concept DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ND Filter Set: These are budget-friendly and the glass is surprisingly decent, but the coating isnt as durable. I have noticed a slight magenta tint with their higher ND values.
  • Skyreat DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ND Filter Set: Another budget option, but the magnets are hit or miss. If you are doing those smooth waterfall shots, you will need the high ND values like ND64 or ND128. I would grab the Freewell set every single time. Over the years, I have learned that losing a cheap filter because the magnet failed actually costs more when you have to replace it mid-trip. Just get the good glass and dont stress about it... Iceland is too beautiful to spend your time looking for a tiny square of glass in the grass.

Like someone mentioned, those magnets can be sketchy. I used to run the K&F Concept DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ND Filter Set 4-Pack but actually lost one near a waterfall because I didnt check the seating after a power cycle. Now I use the Skyreat ND Filter Set for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 6-Pack and always check the glass is flush before I start. Be careful with the gimbal flip tho... it can catch the edge.
