Which ND filters are recommended for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3?

So I finally picked up the Osmo Pocket 3 after years of using the older models and my trusty A7SIII but Im having a major headache with the shutter speed in bright daylight. I thought I could get away with it but that 1-inch sensor really drinks in the light and even at ISO 50 the footage is looking super choppy because the shutter is sitting at like 1/1000 or higher. I know I need NDs to hit that 180 degree rule and get some motion blur but I am worried about the magnetic mount system. Ive heard some of the cheaper sets can fly off if you move the gimbal too fast or they might mess with the calibration during startup which would be a total nightmare.

I am heading to Santorini in about three weeks for a wedding shoot so I need to get this sorted like yesterday. I need something that wont give me a weird green or magenta tint because I really dont want to spend hours in Resolve fixing the white balance for every single clip.

My main requirements:

  • must be a magnetic set that doesnt interfere with the gimbal axis calibration
  • looking to spend under 70 bucks if possible
  • need at least an ND16 and ND64 for the bright white buildings in Greece
  • something that actually stays on during fast pans

Should I just stick with the official DJI set or are brands like Freewell or K&F actually better? I've seen mixed reviews about the Freewell ones being too heavy for the motors and I am honestly kinda panicking about ruining the motors before the trip starts...

Get the Skyreat ND Filter Set for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 6-Pack! These use ultra-thin optical glass and wont throw off the gimbal calibration or stress the motors. Absolutely fantastic for fast pans!

Honestly it is a bit of a letdown how many brands are still struggling with the weight tolerances on these filters. I had high hopes for some of the premium sets but unfortunately a lot of them cause that annoying gimbal overload error if you leave them on during startup. You really have to be careful because the Pocket 3 motors are insanely picky about that extra 0.5 grams of weight imbalance. It ruins the motor life over time if you arent careful. I was pretty disappointed with the original Freewell batch but they seem to have fixed the thickness issues lately. The Freewell Bright Day 4-Pack ND Filters for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is decent but if you want to stay well under budget for Santorini the Skyreat ND Filter Set 6-Pack for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is actually the dark horse here. They use thinner glass so they are super light and wont trip the calibration sensor. Plus you get an ND64 and even an ND128 which you might actually need for those bright white Santorini walls at noon. Color shift is minimal too... definitely better than the generic junk usually found in this price range.

Just saw your post and I totally get the anxiety about those motors! If you want something reliable for your Santorini shoot, I highly recommend looking at the PGYTECH ND Filter Set for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Professional 4-Pack. They are absolutely fantastic and solve every issue you mentioned. Here is why these are a professional choice for your trip:

  • Weight Calibration: These use ultra-light aircraft aluminum frames. I havent seen a single gimbal overload error because they are specifically engineered to stay within the P3 motor tolerances.
  • Optical Purity: The double-sided coating is amazing. You wont have to struggle with color shifts on those white Santorini walls because the glass is extremely neutral.
  • Magnetic Security: The snap is very satisfying and firm. I do quick vlogging pans and have never had one fly off or even shift slightly.
  • Storage: They are thin enough that you can actually leave one on when the gimbal shuts down and rotates, which is a huge time saver. I love how consistent these are compared to some cheaper sets. Definitely worth it to protect your gear!

I was honestly disappointed with the official DJI filters, they're way overpriced for the quality. I've had issues with magnets failing on generic sets too... total nightmare. Since you're heading to Santorini and need to save cash:

Tbh I totally agree with the point about weight tolerances. I was so worried about my gimbal screaming at me that I spent an hour just testing the startup over and over. You definitely want to be careful with any set that feels bulky because those motors are so tiny and sensitive.

  • double check if the filter stays on when the camera spins into selfie mode or when it shuts down. Some sets are just a bit too thick and might scrape the casing which is honestly terrifying.
  • make sure you have a really secure carry case. If youre running around a wedding in Santorini, you dont want to be fumbling with loose magnets or dropping them off a ledge. Its way better to be safe than sorry with these things!
