I finally treated myself to the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, and honestly, the 1-inch sensor is a total game-changer for my travel vlogs! However, I’ve been struggling with my footage looking a bit "staccato" and choppy because the shutter speed is cranking up way too high in bright daylight. I really want to nail that cinematic 180-degree shutter rule to get some smooth motion blur, but I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed by the filter options available right now.
I’ve been looking into the Freewell sets—specifically the "All Day" pack—but I’ve also seen some much cheaper alternatives from K&F Concept and the official DJI set. My main concern is color accuracy; I've had issues in the past with cheaper glass giving a weird magenta or green tint to the sky, and I’d hate to ruin the beautiful colors this camera produces. Also, since the Pocket 3 uses magnetic mounts, how well do these third-party filters stay on during quick pans or walking? I definitely don’t want to see a filter flying off mid-shot!
I'm mainly shooting outdoors in varying light, from sunrise to high noon. For those of you who have been using the Pocket 3 for a while, which ND filter set has given you the most consistent results without affecting the gimbal's calibration or shifting the colors?
Oh man, I totally feel u on that choppy footage! I've been using the Freewell DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ND Filters All Day 8-Pack (ND8-ND1000) and they're LITERALLY amazing. The magnets are super strong so they wont fly off, and honestly, the colors are fantastic. I suggest:
* Freewell DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ND Filters All Day 8-Pack
* DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Magnetic ND Filters Set (ND16/64/256) Basically, dont go cheap on glass cuz you'll get those weird tints! gl!
Hey! Just catching up. For ur situation, i honestly recommend checking these out: • PGYTECH ND Filter Kit for DJI Pocket 3 (ND8/16/32/64): These are amazing for the price! Super neutral colors and they wont mess with gimbal calibration!!
• Neewer 4-Pack ND Filter Kit for DJI Pocket 3: Basically the best budget move. They're surprisingly solid and stay on through shakes lol. Honestly, ND16 or ND32 is all u really need for that cinematic blur! 👍
Building on the earlier suggestion, I've been filming with the Pocket 3 for months and honestly the color shift issue is real. I spent a whole week vlogging in Mexico only to find my footage had a heavy magenta cast because I cheaped out. I finally swapped to the Kase Magnetic ND Filter Set for DJI Pocket 3 and it solved everything. The magnets are surprisingly beefy too.
Respectfully, I'd consider another option. While those big packs are popular, I found I only used two of 'em... total waste of money. I think you might want to consider the K&F Concept DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ND Filter Set (ND8/ND16/ND32/ND64) instead. It's more budget-friendly and the color is actually pretty great with no tints. I learned that a smaller set is better so things dont get too confusing while ur vlogging. gl!

Before I give advice, I gotta ask: what kind of vlogging style are you actually doing?? Like, are we talking chill street walks or high-speed action? I ask because I've been through a total nightmare with filters popping off other cameras before, so safety was my #1 priority when I got my current kit. I was sooo paranoid about the magnets messing with the gimbal calibration too!! In my experience, the setup I'm using now has been a total lifesaver because:
* Magnet integrity: The grip is seriously strong and hasn't budged even during aggressive pans.
* Motor load: The weight is perfectly balanced so the motors dont struggle or overheat during startup.
* Color neutrality: The glass is top-tier so I don't get those gross magenta tints in the clouds, honestly. But yeah, basically it all comes down to how much you're moving around. Let me know your vibe and I can help you pick the right one for your workflow! gl!
Late to the thread but honestly, as someone who’s a bit of a DIY nerd when it comes to testing gear, I’ve found that the big brand sets aren't always the only way to go if you're willing to do some self-service testing!! I’ve been messing around with the PolarPro Vivid Collection for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 lately and they are pretty sick for color accuracy, but here’s my "DIY" approach to making sure they actually work for ur style: * DIY Color Test: I literally just print out a color checker chart and film it with and without the filters. It sounds extra lol, but it’s the only way to be 100% sure about that green/magenta shift you mentioned before you head out into the field.
* White Balance Lock: This is basically the most important "self-service" step - never leave it on Auto WB when swapping NDs because the camera will try to "fix" the filter's tint and usually ends up making it look way worse. * Gimbal Load: I’ve actually weighed mine on a tiny scale (nerd alert!!) and I think the PolarPros are light enough that they don't mess with the calibration, though I'm not 100% sure how they compare to the super cheap ones weight-wise. Honestly, just keep the sensor and filter magnets clean with some isopropyl alcohol - basically a quick DIY maintenance check - and they shouldn't fly off during quick pans. Good luck with the vlogs!!!
Lol I was literally about to post the same thing. Glad someone else brought it up.
