Finally got my hands on a silver X100V after waiting for months and honestly its way more slippery than I expected?? I'm terrified of dropping this thing on my trip to Seattle next week. I've been looking at thumb grips because everyone says they help with the one handed grip but I'm spiraling a bit. I saw the Lensmate one is basically the gold standard but it costs like $60 and I really dont want to spend that much after already dropping two grand on the camera. Then I saw the SmallRig version is way cheaper but some people on reddit were saying it makes the command dial hard to reach or it feels flimsy? I cant tell if they are just being picky or if its a real issue.

Also I really want one of those brass soft shutter buttons because they look so clean but I read a horror story about them stripping the threads or worse, putting too much pressure on the internal shutter mechanism if it gets caught on your camera strap and now I'm scared to even touch one. Does that actually happen or am I just overthinking it? If anyone has a setup that feels secure but doesnt cost like a hundred bucks please let me know. I just want it to feel solid in my hand before I leave...

I love my current setup! Those dial clearance issues are totally real tho. I learned the hard way after checking the specs.

  • clearance measurements
  • dial access Definitely buy one!
