I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded to the Fujifilm X-T5! I’m absolutely loving the 40MP sensor and that classic dial-based handling, but I’m realizing that my old gear from my previous setup might need some refreshing. I’ve already picked up a couple of extra NP-W235 batteries since I plan on doing a lot of long days out for street photography, but I’m curious about what else is considered 'essential' for this specific body.
I’m particularly looking for advice on a few specific areas. First, given the high resolution and massive file sizes, what V30 or V60 SD cards are you guys finding most reliable for consistent performance? I also noticed the grip is a bit shallow for my hands, so I’m debating between a third-party L-bracket/baseplate (like SmallRig) or the official Fujifilm hand grip for better ergonomics. Lastly, since I want to keep this camera looking pristine without ruining the tactile feel of the dials, are there any specific screen protectors or soft-release buttons you swear by?
I want to make sure I’m geared up properly before my first big landscape trip next month. Beyond the basics, what are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend for a new X-T5 owner to get the most out of this beast?

First, given the high resolution and massive file sizes, what V30 or V60 SD cards are you guys finding most reliable for consistent performance? Ok so when I first got my X-T5, I tried to save some cash by using my old UHS-I cards... big mistake. Those 40MP files are massive and I actually missed a street shot because the buffer was hanging. Honestly, V30 is way too slow for this sensor's throughput, but V90 is usually overpriced for everyday shooting. I'm super satisfied with the Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II V60 cards; they're basically the best bang for your buck. For the grip, I went with the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for FUJIFILM X-T5 4136 instead of the official Fuji one. Its way cheaper and lowkey more functional since it has that integrated Arca-Swiss base for your tripod. Lesson learned: you dont need to pay the "Fuji tax" for everything to get great performance. Good luck!
Oh man, congrats on the X-T5! It's lowkey a beast of a camera once you get it dialed in. Since you're dealing with those massive 40MP files, I'd suggest skipping V30 cards entirely... they're basically too slow for the buffer. Honestly, I've been using the SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II Card V90 and it's super reliable for both street bursts and high-res landscape work. Here's what I recommend for the rest:
* Grip: Definitely go with the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for FUJIFILM X-T5 4136. It's better than the official one cuz it has a built-in Arca-Swiss plate for your tripod and doesn't block the battery door.
* Protection: Grab the ULBTER Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Fujifilm X-T5. It fits perfectly and doesn't mess with the touch sensitivity at all.
* Shutter Feel: The JJC Deluxe Soft Release Button makes the handling feel way more classic, but make sure to check the rubber O-ring so it doesn't vibrate loose. Anyway, I think you're gonna love the setup once it's kitted out. Just be careful with the soft release—don't crank it too hard or you might strip the threads! gl with the trip!
Finally someone says it. Ive been thinking this for a while but wasnt sure.
