Hey everyone! I’m looking to upgrade my Fuji kit for upcoming weddings and portrait sessions. I’ve heard great things about the 56mm f/1.2 and the 50-140mm f/2.8, but I’m torn between that creamy bokeh and the versatility of a zoom. Since I often shoot in low-light venues, which lens do you find most essential for your professional workflow?
> Which lens do you find most essential for your professional workflow? I went through this last year! I started with the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR - that bokeh is magic. But after missing some ring shots, I grabbed the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR. The prime is better for low-light vibes, but the zoom's OIS is a total lifesaver during long ceremonies. Still a tough choice tho! gl!
Saw this late, but I've had issues with gear hunting for focus in dark venues - it's pretty stressful. For a safety-first workflow, well actually I'd recommend the Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR over the lenses already mentioned. It's weather-sealed and way more reliable for those critical moments. I mean, missing a shot is never worth the bokeh... been there, unfortunately. GL!
Just wanted to say thanks for everyone chiming in. Super helpful discussion.
In my experience, watch out for relying ONLY on the prime lens. i've seen people miss critical shots during the ceremony cuz they were stuck at one focal length. - The zoom is ur essential workhorse for weddings. - The f/1.2 is magic for portraits. Honestly, im so satisfied with the zoom's versatility. it works well in low light and I've got no complaints. gl!
Yeah, I totally agree that a safety-first workflow is the most important thing, especially since I'm still so new to this and don't want to mess up! I've been doing sooo much market research lately comparing Fuji to brands like Sony and it's honestly a bit overwhelming trying to figure out the best path. * Third-party brands are basically catching up on autofocus speed now
* Resale value on native glass seems way more stable in the long run
* Pro-grade build quality is like a safety tax for your peace of mind I'm still basically a beginner so I'm reallyyy cautious about where my money goes. Do you guys think the brand name is always the safest bet for weddings? Tbh I'm just trying to make sure I don't regret my first big purchase!
