Hey everyone! I’ve been shooting with the Sigma fp for a few months now and I’m absolutely loving the image quality, but that fixed rear screen is proving to be a real challenge for outdoor shoots and low-angle work. I’m looking for a compact external monitor that doesn't overwhelm the camera's tiny form factor. I’m particularly concerned about the stability of the micro-HDMI connection and finding a screen with enough nits to handle direct sunlight. Has anyone found a specific 5-inch model that balances well on a small cage setup without becoming too bulky? Also, how are you guys managing power for both? I’d love to hear which monitors you think best complement the fp's color science.

- PortKeys LH5P II 5.5-inch Touchscreen Monitor: 2200 nits, $400
- Atomos Ninja V: better colors, $600
Portkeys is way better for sun and size tho. I basically just use NPF batteries for power!

Been thinking about your question for a bit and honestly, I've tried many setups over the years with the fp. It's such a great sensor but yeah, that rear screen is basically useless in the sun. Ngl, the micro-HDMI port is the weakest link—I actually ruined a port once cuz I didnt use a clamp, so definitely dont skip that part of your cage! If you're looking for something that wont break the bank but still punches high on nits, here's what I recommend: * Feelworld LUT5 5.5 Inch 3000nit Ultra Bright Field Monitor - This is probably the best bang-for-buck for outdoor work. It's super light and costs around $160, which is a steal for 3000 nits. * Desview R6 UHB 5.5 Inch 2800nits Touchscreen Monitor - Usually goes for about $200 and the color accuracy is surprisingly decent for the price.
* SmallRig HDMI Cable Clamp 1679 - Seriously, get this or something similar for your cage to save your HDMI port. For power, I keep it simple with Sony NPF-F550 Rechargeable Li-Ion Batteries. They're small enough that they dont make the rig feel top-heavy. It's a bit of a balancing act but once you get it dialed in, the fp is a beast. Hope that helps you out!! peace

+1 to what was said earlier! That micro-HDMI is sooo fragile, seriously. - WARNING: Dont even think about mounting a monitor without a dedicated cable clamp! If u snag that cord once, ur looking at a huge repair bill.
- Budget tip: Use separate batteries for both. Powering the camera from the monitor usually requires expensive adapters and extra cables. Keeping them separate is way more cost-effective and reliable!!

Curious about one thing: are you planning on shooting to an external SSD or just internal? Honestly, that basically changes how you'd handle the power and the whole rig setup... I've unfortunately had major issues with port stability on the fp -- it's super disappointing. - SmallRig Cage for Sigma fp series 3211: Essential for port safety.
- Blackmagic Video Assist 5" 12G HDR: Rock solid reliability. Lmk your storage plans!
