I just picked up a Leica M11 and want to find a great leather half case to protect it. Since the M11 doesn't have a traditional baseplate, I'm looking for a design that allows easy access to the battery and SD card slot without removing the case.
I've been looking at brands like Arte di Mano and Luigi, but I'm worried about adding too much bulk. I really want something that enhances the grip while keeping the camera's slim profile. Quality of leather and stitching is also a big factor for me.
Does anyone have recommendations for a case that fits perfectly and handles the new battery access well?
Sooo I've been shooting Leica for like 15 years now but honestly the M11 still confuses me with the new baseplate design. I spent way too much money on cases and actually ended up pretty disappointed with some of the big names. Tbh it's reallyyy hard to get that battery access right without making the camera feel like a brick. Here's what I recommend after trying a few:
Hey, I had a moment to think about this more and honestly, when youre carrying around an M11, safety and drop protection should be the top priority. Ive tried many cases over the years, and the biggest issue is always how they handle that new battery door without feeling flimsy or risking a drop while fumbling with it. You might find this useful - theres a great resource at the Leica User Forum where people post photos of the actual leather wear after a year of use. It really helps you see which ones actually hold their shape and stay secure. Anyway, here is how I see the top options for safety vs slimness compared to the ones already mentioned:
TP Original Leather Half Case for Leica M11 is budget, Lim's Design Leather Half Case for Leica M11 is metal. TP is reallyyy slim, others add bulk. TP is my best value pick.
