Nikon has just registered a new camera code N2318 in China CMIIT ID, this means a new Nikon camera model is expected in next few months.
Currently, Nikon has a total of 3 unannounced camera codes:
- N2216
- N2312
- N2318

Always a bit of a rush when these CMIIT registrations start hitting the databases. In my experience, seeing three codes at once usually points toward a big push for the next quarter, but you gotta be careful with the hype train. People always jump to conclusions about flagship bodies, but these codes can be anything from a pro mirrorless to a basic point-and-shoot refresh.
- dont get tunnel vision on one specific model name yet
- avoid selling your current gear until specs are confirmed
- watch the wireless frequencies in the filing for clues on pro vs consumer builds Just be careful not to take every rumor as gospel because these things shift around all the time. If you need any help digging through the radio frequency details on the registration docs, let me know... they usually hide some good hints in there.
