After Canon has officially announced the EOS R6 Mark III, the long awaiting Sony a7 V now confirmed, it will be officially announced in early December 2025.

  • New AI chip, similar to the Sony a1 II, for improved autofocus.
  • Next-generation AI-powered autofocus.
  • Improved subject detection, including human, animal, bird, and vehicle.
  • Real-time Eye Autofocus, also designed to recognize animal eyes.

Image Stabilization:

  • 8 stops IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization).

Video:

  • 4K video recording at various frame rates.
  • 4K 120fps or 6K video capabilities are possible.
  • 4K at 60 frames per second oversampled from 6K.
  • Potential open gate functionality.

Body and Design:

  • Same Sony A7rV body design.
  • 4-way fully articulating screen.
  • Improved EVF (Electronic ViewFinder), possibly 5.6m dot resolution.

Other Features:

  • Improved FPS rate (15fps).
  • Dual Type A SD card slots.
  • No C5 button.
  • Improved dynamic range and low light performance.
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).
  • Customizable menu system inspired by the Alpha 1 Mark II.

Price:

  • Around $3000.

Based on specs, I think R6 Mark III is better. Let's see.

R6 Mark III body costs $2800. I guess a7V will have the same price tag.
