Has anyone seen any legit early Prime Day deals on the Fujifilm X-T5 yet?
I have been refreshing Amazon and checking deal tracker sites all morning but everything seems fake or just regular retail price. I read on one blog that Amazon might drop the price by 10% for Prime members but then another forum post said Fujifilm is keeping prices locked because of stock issues so I dont know what to believe.
My budget is strictly capped at $1500 for the body since I need to buy a lens too, and I have a trip to Japan next month so I really need to get this ordered like now. Should I just buy it full price somewhere else...
> My budget is strictly capped at $1500 for the body since I need to buy a lens too Honestly, you're not gonna see the Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Camera Body drop to $1500 new for Prime Day. Fuji has been struggling with stock on their 40MP sensor cameras forever, so they have no real reason to cut prices. Retail is $1699 and it basically never budges. Since you're going to Japan next month anyway, buy it there. Seriously. Big shops like Yodobashi or Bic Camera do tax-free shopping for tourists which saves you 10 percent, and you often get another 5 percent off using Visa. With the weak Yen, you'll easily get a new body under your $1500 limit. Just keep in mind the warranty won't be valid back home. If you absolutely need it before you go, look at the Fujifilm X-T50 Mirrorless Camera Body instead. It is $1399 retail, fits the budget, and shares the same 40MP sensor and processor as the X-T5. You miss out on the weather sealing and dual card slots, but the images look identical. Otherwise, look for a used X-T5 on Fred Miranda or MPB, but even used ones are pushing $1500 right now because of the high demand.
@Reply #1 - good point! Fuji prices just dont drop like other brands on Prime Day. Honestly, if you want to stay under your $1500 budget and need it before next month, stop waiting for Amazon. I was in the same boat and ended up buying a mint condition Fujifilm X-T5 Camera Body Black from MPB for about $1420. I have been super happy with the purchase, the camera works flawlessly and looks brand new. Checking KEH or MPB is your best bet to get it shipped quickly without breaking your budget. For the lens, here is a practical tip since you are heading to Japan. Just buy the body now so you can learn the menu system, then buy your lens over there. Stores like Map Camera in Shinjuku have massive selections of used lenses in pristine condition. With the weak Yen and tax-free shopping for tourists, you can grab something like a Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f2.8-4 R LM OIS Lens or even a Fujifilm XF 23mm f2 R WR Lens for dirt cheap compared to US prices. I did exactly this on my last trip and saved a couple hundred bucks easily, no complaints at all.
^ This. Also, waiting for Prime Day on Fuji gear is usually a recipe for disappointment. Before you blow your budget, I've got a couple questions:
