Im trying to find a solid travel tripod for a backpacking trip to Patagonia this November and Prime Day is driving me crazy. I have about $150 to spend and need something super light but sturdy.

I saw the Peak Design aluminum one is discounted but its just too heavy for long hikes. Then I looked at the Ulanzi Zero Y carbon fiber since its on sale too, but reviewers say the center column wobbles like crazy in high winds. I feel like Im just scrolling through pages of sponsored junk.

Are there any actual good Prime Day deals on sturdy carbon tripods today that I missed?

Like someone mentioned, Sirui is awesome for this, but you should also check out the Artcise AS60C Carbon Fiber Tripod. It is a total beast for windy places like Patagonia because it lacks a center column, which completely eliminates that wobble! Here is why I love it:

  • 10-layer carbon fiber tubes make it incredibly rigid.
  • Weighs only 2.2 lbs but supports up to 33 lbs!
  • No center column means you can get it flat to the ground.

Prime Day has been kinda disappointing this year tbh, most deals are just cheap plastic junk. I had issues with cheap tripods failing in high winds. If you want something solid under 150, look at:

I went through this exact headache last year before a trip to windy Iceland. I wanted carbon fiber but refused to drop 400 bucks. I ended up buying the Sirui AM-225 Carbon Fiber Tripod with B-00K Ball Head and honestly, I have no complaints. It has been a lifesaver for long hikes. Here is what I found works well for keeping it steady without breaking your back or budget:

  • Skip the center column. This Sirui model doesnt have one, which makes it way more stable in high winds. I was super happy with how it handled coastal gusts.
  • Hang your pack. It has a loop underneath. I always hang my camera bag there, and it keeps the tripod planted even in nasty weather.
  • Weight is perfect. It weighs just over 2 pounds and fits right in my pack side pocket. Its currently on sale for around 130 dollars for Prime Day. For Patagonia, this setup is going to serve you way better than the Ulanzi. I am really satisfied with mine and it survived three weeks of brutal weather without a scratch.
