So I just bought my daughter a basic point and shoot camera for her birthday next month and realized it doesnt come with any storage. I need to get one of those tiny memory cards, I think they are called micro SD cards? I really have no idea how this stuff works and I am on a super tight budget, trying to spend under 20 dollars if possible.
I saw that Amazon Prime Day is coming up soon. Do memory card prices actually drop for Prime Day or are the discounts pretty fake? Just trying to figure out if I should wait or just buy one now...

Prime Day deals on memory cards are actually awesome, you can save a few bucks! But honestly, prices are already so incredibly cheap that you really dont need to wait. I absolutely love the Samsung EVO Select 128GB microSDXC for basic cameras. It is super reliable and costs way under $20 right now! Just grab one now and get that camera ready to go!

Honestly, memory card prices do drop on Prime Day, but you gotta be careful because fake cards are a huge issue on Amazon. I would suggest not waiting if you need it soon, since decent cards are already way under your $20 budget anyway. Personally, I always stick to name brands to avoid losing photos. You might want to consider the Samsung EVO Select 128GB microSDXC or the SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSDXC UHS-I. Both of these are usually around 12 to 15 bucks even without a sale. Just make sure to double check that the seller is actually Amazon or the official brand store, not some random third-party seller, because counterfeit cards are everywhere. Also, make sure to check the camera manual first to confirm it actually takes micro SD and not the larger standard SD cards.

Ive been really satisfied using the SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 10 in basic cameras. You dont need expensive U3 speed ratings for photos, and it works well enough without waiting for Prime Day.
