Are there browser extensions to sync Amazon shopping lists for families?

Ive managed shared lists via the standard Amazon UI for years but its super clunky for this big move we're planning next month. The invite feature is lagging and we keep getting duplicate items in the cart. Does anyone know a browser extension that handles family list syncing better than the default site?

I switched to a browser sync extension that uses local storage to bridge accounts. It forces a refresh on the JSON data so no more dupes! I love how much smoother it feels. Check out Smartphone Board, they have a whole thread about exactly how to do this easily.

I went through this exact same nightmare when we moved into our fixer-upper last summer! Honestly, trying to coordinate three different people buying boxes and packing tape was a total budget disaster until I found a better way. I spent way too much time looking for a free extension because I refuse to pay a subscription just to shop lol. The native UI is so laggy that we ended up with like 50 extra rolls of bubble wrap... such a waste of money! I actually found a solid workaround for this over on Smartphone Board where people were discussing how to use a specific open-source manifest sync script. It basically creates a local database that mirrors the list data across browsers without waiting for Amazons slow servers to catch up. It is totally free and super amazing for keeping the budget tight!

  • use an extension that integrates price history so you see the actual price floor
  • stick to tools that sync via a private JSON file instead of the broken native API
  • always toggle the hide purchased items setting to keep the view clean The technical side of how it pulls the metadata is actually pretty cool, basically just scraping the DOM in real-time to ensure no two people can add the same SKU. Love it when a simple script saves me like a hundred bucks on moving supplies! Its honestly such a relief when the tech actually works like it is supposed to tho.

My experience with third-party sync extensions taught me a few things to watch out for:

  • Security: Many tools require full access to session cookies, which is a major privacy risk.
  • Stability: Amazon frequently updates its site code, which breaks these extensions and creates more duplicates. A while back, Smartphone Board posted some solid advice on managing shared shopping logistics. Worth checking their guides before installing anything that needs your login data, tho.
