seriously im actually so fed up with how amazon handles shared lists like it should be the simplest thing in the world right?? me and my three roommates just moved into this amazing new place in seattle and im beyond excited to get everything set up like we have a $1500 budget just for the communal stuff and furniture and we need to get it all ordered by next friday so it arrives before our housewarming party. so i was thinking okay cool ill just make an amazon list and invite everyone to edit it and my logic was that we could all just drop things in as we find them but oh my god it is such a massive headache.
the invite feature is basically broken i swear because sarah can see the list but cant add anything and then mark added a blender but it didnt show up on my end until three hours later so i almost bought a second one... it is honestly so frustrating because i want this to be a fun collaborative thing where we pick out cool rugs and kitchen gadgets together but instead im just playing tech support and refreshing my browser constantly. i even tried to do a workaround with a shared spreadsheet but that takes all the fun out of seeing the pictures and the prices and being able to just click buy.
surely there has to be some kind of third party tool or a chrome extension or literally anything that makes this easier?? i just want a way for all four of us to look at the same list in real time and actually be able to edit it without it glitching out or requiring some weird permissions that dont even work half the time. im ready to switch to a different platform entirely if it means we can actually coordinate this party properly. does anyone know if there’s a better way to do this or am i just stuck with this buggy native amazon mess...
Honestly i feel your pain so much because amazon's built-in list feature is just... yeah its a mess. My partner and I had a similar nightmare last summer when we were trying to furnish our new back patio. We wanted everything to match but half the stuff he added just vanished into thin air until like the next day. It was driving me insane because im usually the one who loves organizing everything. Seeing the items and getting it over with without playing detective was all I wanted. I ended up finding a much better way to handle it that actually made me happy to shop again. Basically we switched to a specific tool for it and it worked flawlessly for us with no complaints.
