Hey everyone,

I'm already thinking ahead to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals for 2025, specifically regarding Tamron lenses. I'm hoping to snag a new lens for my Sony E-mount camera and Tamron seems to offer the best bang for my buck.

Does anyone have experience tracking Tamron lens deals during Black Friday/Cyber Monday? Any tips on the best retailers to watch or historical data on previous year's discounts? Also, do you think waiting until Cyber Monday will actually yield better deals than Black Friday itself, or is it usually the same (or worse)? I'm trying to figure out my strategy early. Thanks!

So I have been following the market trends for a bit because I was in the same boat last year. I spent way too much time comparing Tamron to Sigma and even the native Sony glass to see where the best value actually sits. From what I recall, Tamron is usually the most aggressive with their holiday pricing, but I am not 100 percent sure if 2025 will follow the same pattern since manufacturing costs have been so weird lately. Here is what I noticed during my own market research journey:

  • I think Tamron usually undercuts the other third-party brands on price during these big sales, which makes them super popular for budget builds.
  • IIRC, the native brand glass rarely drops as much percentage-wise as the third-party options do, which makes the value gap even wider during November.
  • Maybe it is just me, but I found that the most popular focal lengths often sell out or go on backorder before the actual Monday even starts. Honestly, I am still a bit cautious about waiting until the very last minute to pull the trigger. I have seen prices fluctuate by fifty bucks back and forth, and it is hard to tell if you are actually getting the absolute floor price. It is definitely a bit of a gamble.

Honestly, I'm gonna disagree a bit with just blindly jumping on the first big-box deal you see. While those links are great, I think focusing on *reliability* and warranty safety is way more important when you're buying glass. I've seen people snag a "deal" from a random seller on a marketplace only to realize it's a grey market lens with zero manufacturer support. That’s SO not worth the risk, you know? If you want a solid strategy for the 2025 sales, here’s what I’d suggest instead: * Check Adorama. They are a huge authorized dealer and often bundle "free" extras like filters or SD cards for the exact same price as the lens alone during the sales.
* Keep a close eye on the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2. It’s basically the best value lens for Sony, and the discounts are usually very consistent across all reputable shops.
* Look at the Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD if you need something wide. It's super reliable and honestly much lighter than the native Sony glass.
* Wait for the "Open Box" listings to pop up on Cyber Monday at authorized shops. People buy stuff on impulse Friday and return it immediately—it's a great way to get a basically new lens with a full warranty for even less. I mean, at the end of the day, the 6-year warranty is Tamron's best feature, so just make sure the seller is legit!
