so i finally upgraded to an r6 and i have a big trip to japan coming up in like three weeks and im totally spiraling about what lens to pack. i really dont want to be carrying a huge bag or constantly swapping glass while im trying to eat ramen or navigate the subway lol. ive been looking at the rf 24-240mm since it covers everything but then i saw some people online saying the image quality gets kinda mushy at the long end and the aperture is pretty slow for night stuff in shinjuku. then there is the 24-105mm f4l which everyone swears by but i worry that 105mm isnt gonna be enough reach when i want to crop in on some cool roof details or something. plus its way more expensive and heavy.

here is what im looking for:

  • budget: around $1000 give or take (used is totally fine)
  • weight: needs to be okay for walking 20k steps a day
  • shots: lots of street scenes, temple architecture, and close ups of food
  • convenience: really just want one lens that stays on the body 90% of the time

has anyone used the 24-240 on the r6 for a big trip? does the in-camera correction actually fix those distortion issues people talk about or should i just stick with the shorter 24-105 range and deal with it...
