Leaving for Japan in ten days and need a one-lens setup for my a6400. Torn between the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 and the Sony 18-135mm.

Budget is under $800 and I gotta stay light for hiking... is the f2.8 worth the extra bulk or is the Sony reach better?

TL;DR: Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS. It's lighter for hiking and saves you cash. The extra reach is honestly more useful for street shots than the f2.8 bulk.
