Hey everyone! I'm planning to finally upgrade to the Sony a7IV and wondering if anyone's seen any solid deals announced for Black Friday or Cyber Monday this year? I'm hoping to snag the body-only version, but open to kit deals too if the price is right. Are major retailers like B&H, Adorama, or Amazon typically the best bet, or should I watch smaller camera shops? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there!

I totally get the Black Friday planning! I actually bought my a7III right *after* Black Friday a few years back, because the deals lingered a bit. So, here's my two cents on the a7IV and potential 2025 discounts, based on what I've seen and learned:

First, the a7IV is a fantastic camera! You're gonna love it. As for Black Friday, it's tricky. Straight discounts on just the body might be smaller than you're hoping for. From what I remember, past deals often bundled it with lenses, sometimes ones people didn't *really* need. I would suggest being very careful and check the actual lens price and if you could resell it without a loss. This might make a kit deal interesting.

However, your point about newer models is key! By late 2025, we're likely to see rumblings (or even releases!) of an a7V. That said, this will probably affect the a7IV price. So, I think it's reasonable to expect *some* price drop due to that, even if it's not a massive, advertised Black Friday thing.

Based on my own experience and tracking prices, I'd *cautiously* aim for a price range of maybe $2200-$2400 for just the body during a sale, but that's just a guess. Make sure to check used prices too. You might snag a killer deal on a lightly used one, especially if someone's upgrading!

Also, don't forget to check smaller, reputable camera stores. They sometimes have unadvertised discounts or package deals that beat the big retailers. I got my Sony 24-70mm GM lens from a local store for way less than B&H because of a bundle. Just keep your eyes peeled!

Hope this helps! Good luck with the camera hunt, and feel free to ask if you have more questions.

Hey! I wouldn't bank *too* heavily on massive a7IV price drops, tbh. Sony's pretty consistent. What you *can* do is look at 'grey market' options. Sites like Greentoe can sometimes get you a better price than waiting for Black Friday. The risk is warranty stuff, so research carefully.

Also, consider a used a7IV. Plenty of people upgrade and sell theirs in great condition. You could save a good chunk of change that way! Check sites like KEH or MPB; they rate the condition accurately, IMO. Finally, if you're adapting lenses, make sure your adapter is a good one. A cheap adapter will negate any image quality you gain with the a7IV. Good luck!

Hey! I totally get wanting that a7IV! Instead of *just* Black Friday, consider checking out used options too. Seriously! Sites like KEH or MPB often have great deals, and you can snag one anytime, not just during sales. Plus, you might find a like-new body for way less than a new one on sale. I snagged a lens that way once and it was amazing! Think about it – more money for adapters and maybe even a cool vintage lens to play with! 😉

Hey! I totally get the hunt for a good deal, but I wanted to chime in with a slightly different angle than what's already been said. While everyone's focusing on price, it's super important to consider *where* you're buying from, especially when it comes to electronics like the a7IV.

Here's why it matters: Camera equipment, like any sophisticated electronics, can be susceptible to damage during shipping or even be outright counterfeit if you're not careful. Over the years, I've seen some horror stories with grey market dealers – stuff arriving with scratches, missing components, or even worse, being a completely different product altogether! Plus, warranty support can be a nightmare with those guys. It's just not worth the risk, IMO.

So, my advice? Stick with authorized dealers like B&H Photo, Adorama, or even directly from Sony. Yes, the price might be *slightly* higher during Black Friday, but you're paying for peace of mind. You're guaranteed a genuine product, a valid warranty, and a hassle-free return process if something goes wrong. Also, these reputable stores often have their own bundles or financing options that might soften the blow a bit.

Frankly, a slightly smaller discount from a trusted source is always preferable to a huge discount from a shady one. I've tried many different retailers over the years, and honestly, the peace of mind is worth more than a few bucks. Just something to consider while you're planning!

Good luck with the hunt! Hope this helps.

Hey! I totally get the Black Friday excitement! Everyone's given some great advice. I've owned my a7IV for a while now, and while I'm super happy with it (no complaints!), I think there's something to be said for considering the *long-term* ownership costs.

For example, you're focusing on the body, which is smart if you have lenses. But think about repairs. Sony gear, while excellent, can be pricey to fix if something goes wrong. Option A: Buying new from an authorized dealer *might* give you better warranty coverage and peace of mind, even if the initial price is slightly higher than Option B: a 'grey market' deal. Option C: Used can save money upfront, but you're taking a bigger risk, honestly.

I ended up going with a new kit lens deal from a reputable store, and it was worth it *just* for the warranty. Plus, having that extra lens has been surprisingly useful. Food for thought! Good luck with your hunt!

Hey! Everyone's giving solid advice, but let me chime in from the Arizona perspective. I had issues with my electronics overheating during Black Friday shoots out here, especially with the a7 series. Honestly, if you're in a super hot or humid climate, consider that in your budget – maybe a camera rain cover or even just extra batteries since the heat drains them faster. Also, keep an eye on local camera stores; they sometimes offer better bundles tailored to our regional needs than the big online retailers. Hope this helps!

Hey! Everyone's given some great advice on price tracking and alternatives, but I wanted to chime in from a slightly different angle – thinking about *performance*. I've been shooting for years, and sometimes focusing too much on the price means you overlook what you *really* need.

I totally get wanting the a7IV, it's a solid camera. But before you lock in, honestly, think hard about *what* you're shooting. I've seen too many people buy a camera because it's "good" only to find out it's overkill (or underpowered) for their actual needs. If you're mostly doing stills, maybe something like a used a7III or even an a7C would be a better fit *and* save you money. The a7IV is great for video, but if video isn't your primary thing... well, something else might be smarter.

Also, be careful about adapting older lenses. I've gone down that road, and sometimes the autofocus performance just isn't there, or you lose features. It can be frustrating! Make sure those lenses are actually a good match for the a7IV's capabilities *before* you factor them into your decision. I'd suggest renting the a7IV and testing your lenses with it, if possible, before you commit to buying. That's a smarter investment than blindly hoping it'll all work perfectly.

Finally, while everyone's talking about price drops, remember that sometimes the *overall value* matters more. A slightly smaller discount on a camera that perfectly fits your needs is better than a big discount on something that leaves you wanting. Think about the long game! Good luck with the hunt! Let me know if you have more questions.

Hey! Instead of waiting, have you considered renting an a7IV for a weekend? Sites like Lensrentals let you try it out before committing. If you REALLY love it, maybe buy it used! Plus, you'll know for sure if it's the right fit!

Hey! Instead of *only* focusing on the a7IV, might want to consider alternatives like Fujifilm or even Panasonic. They sometimes have killer Black Friday deals that offer similar performance for less. Honestly, do a side-by-side comparison of specs and prices *across brands* before committing to Sony. You might find a hidden gem! Also, check out Camera Decision for a great comparison tool.
