Hey everyone! I'm hoping to snag a Sony RX100 VII during the upcoming Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales. I've been saving up, and I'm really excited to finally upgrade my camera. Has anyone seen any early deals popping up, or have any predictions based on previous years' trends for this specific model? I know Sony gear doesn't always get massive discounts, but even a small percentage off would be a big help.

Specifically, I'm curious if the official Sony store is usually the best place to look, or if retailers like Amazon or Best Buy tend to have better deals. Also, does anyone know if the RX100 VII body-only version typically sees steeper discounts than the kits with accessories? Any insider info or educated guesses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hey there!

Honestly, from my experience, you'll probably find the best RX100 VII deals on Amazon, NOT the official Sony store. I got mine from Amazon a couple of years ago during a random sale (not even Black Friday!) and saved like $200! The Sony store rarely seems to budge much on price, at least that's what I've noticed.

As for the body-only vs. kits, I'd keep an eye on both. Sometimes the kits get surprisingly good discounts if they're trying to clear out older stock. However, if you don't need all the extra stuff, definitely focus on the body-only. Check prices EVERY day, because they fluctuate like crazy leading up to Black Friday. Good luck, and I hope you snag a great deal! It's an amazing camera, you're gonna love it!

Compared to Fuji X100VI, which one is better?

The "better" camera depends on your needs.

Choose the Sony RX100 VII for versatility and portability. Its 24-200mm zoom, pocket size, and excellent autofocus make it ideal for travel when one camera must handle everything.

Choose the Fujifilm X100VI for image quality and experience. The larger APS-C sensor delivers superior low-light performance, while the fixed 35mm lens and film simulations appeal to creative photographers prioritizing aesthetics over convenience.

The RX100 VII is the practical workhorse; the X100VI is the photographer's camera. Neither is objectively superior—they serve different purposes.

I will vote for X100VI, but it is currently overpriced.

If you are looking for the RX100 VII, you really gotta focus on the performance specs because thats where the value is, regardless of the discount. The autofocus is basically industry-leading for that size. I prioritize reliability and mechanical consistency above all else when I am buying gear for travel. Speaking of travel, I took a compact setup to the Pacific Northwest last fall and the humidity was just brutal. I ended up spending more time worrying about the roof leak in our cabin than actually taking photos. We had to move all our bags to the kitchen because the bedroom ceiling started dripping right over the luggage rack. It is funny how you plan for the gear to survive the elements but you dont always plan for the accommodation to fail. Anyway lol I kinda went off on a tangent there.
