What are the best budget prime lenses for Sony Alpha cameras that wont break the bank because honestly I'm about to pull my hair out trying to understand this stuff. I just got a used Sony a6000 for my trip to Maine next month but the lens it came with is just... not good? Every time I try to take a picture inside it looks all grainy and gross and I'm just so frustrated with it. I keep reading that I need a prime lens but I dont even really know what that means other than it doesnt zoom? Is that right? I feel so stupid asking this but everything online is like 50mm this and 35mm that and then they show me lenses that cost like eight hundred dollars. I literally only have about 250 bucks maybe 300 if I skip a few lunches to spend on this. I just want my pictures of people and scenery to look crisp like the ones I see on instagram. Are there any brands that arent Sony that work? I saw some names like Sigma or Samyang but I dont know if they will break my camera or if they even fit. Is there something for under 300 that actually works?
Unfortunately, cheap glass usually feels like a toy. I had issues with plastic mounts breaking, so dont buy junk. These are solid:
I totally get that frustration! When I finally ditched my kit lens for a prime, it felt like I'd bought an entirely new camera! It is an amazing jump in quality. Since you are heading to Maine, these are fantastic budget-friendly options:
In my experience, you cant beat the Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary Sony E for that budget. Its super sharp and lets in way more light than your kit lens. Alternatively, the Sony E 35mm f1.8 OSS is solid because it has stabilization, tho the Sigma is optically superior at f1.4. Both fit your a6000 perfectly and will fix that grainy look you're getting.
> Are there any brands that arent Sony that work? In my experience, third-party glass has caught up big time. I used to be a brand snob, but over the years it became clear the name brand tax is real. Smaller companies are putting out lenses that focus faster than stuff double their price. Honestly, dont be afraid to branch out. It’s how I saved my gear bag without going broke... third-party is kinda where it’s at now.
