Ive been shooting primes for years but Im heading to Tokyo next month and realized I cant keep swapping glass on the go with my a7IV. Need something versatile for street and landscapes around $1200 max. Is the f4 G lens still the play or maybe that Tamron 28-75? What is the best all-around zoom lens for the Sony a7IV?
Saw this earlier but just now getting back to the keyboard. Like someone mentioned, Tokyo crowds and weather make swapping lenses a total nightmare for your sensor. I've tried many setups over the years and for travel, you really want something that wont fail if it gets a bit damp or dusty.
Jumping in here... in my experience the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD is unbeatable for one-lens travel. Check out Dustin Abbotts site for technical resolution charts before you decide.
> realized I cant keep swapping glass on the go In my experience, prioritize weather sealing. Tokyo rain is no joke and you dont want moisture hitting your sensor during a swap, honestly.
Just found this! @Reply #2 - good point! Honestly, going with one zoom totally saved my back during a trip to Osaka last year. It is amazing how much more you actually shoot with the Sony a7IV when you arent fussing with a heavy gear bag! I think I heard a rumor about price drops on those versatile zooms recently? Not 100 percent sure tho but definitely check used listings!
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
